hi,
i would like to have several layers of user accounts under GD.
how is this possible ?
i want regular users (for the ratings and comments)
Location owners (for them to be able to login and reply on comments and also manage their location account – insert promos, add/change details, etc)and the regular WP accounts.
how can this be achieved ?

November 23, 2014 at 10:05 am #22334Listing owners can reply to any comments, just like anybody else.
Their username will be shown, so it should be clear that it is the owner.Listing owners also can insert promos, add/change details etc, from their dashboard.
Basically, all your users get a subscriber WP account; listing owners can edit their own listings at any time, and anybody can comment if that is how you set it up.
Does that answer your question?
November 23, 2014 at 11:17 am #22335Hi,
how do i control all of this and set who is a listing owner, who is a regular subscriber ? and on top of that, prevent people from adding places (and/or creating users) before i approve them.

November 23, 2014 at 11:44 am #22337From GD’s point of view, it is all set up automatically.
A listing owner is the person that submitted the listing; that person will be able to edit the listing (and admin of course). At WP > Settings > Discussion, you can choose whether anybody can comment or people need to be registered before they can comment.
If you do not want to use any other plugin, follow these steps to force people to verify their email address:
1. WP > Settings > General > Membership > Anyone can register > YES
2. Implement http://docs.wpgeodirectory.com/redirecting-the-login-page/
Redirect to wp-login.php
3. GD > General > General > Allow user to see wp-admin area > YESIf you want to approve new users manually, there might be a plugin for that or you can create your own form.
It might be simpler to review listings before publishing:
GD > Design > Listings > New listing default status > DraftI hope I am making sense.
November 23, 2014 at 12:33 pm #22338so if i understand correct, ill have to find a plugin for the user authentication i need, since the GD doesnt support the requirements, right ?
November 23, 2014 at 12:58 pm #22340If you mean that you manually want to authenticate each user, yes. That is not part of any normal WordPress and therefore not GD.
If you mean that the user authenticates themselves by using the password sent to them by WordPress, then you do not need anything else, but follow the steps I set out.Maybe we misunderstand each other, when you say user authentication.
Normally admins do not approve each and every new user, but users need to verify their email address. The last option is standard GD and WP as explained. Can you describe what you mean with user authentication?
November 23, 2014 at 2:05 pm #22341hi,
user creation with default permissions is ok to be an automatic procedure.
what i want is to be able to set additional permissions for certain users, but not the default options that WP provides me.
more than that, i want the user details to be enhanced when it comes to non-default users.
bottom-line i want to have shop-owners and customers, each with different access options.
am i clear ?
November 23, 2014 at 9:16 pm #22365If you want users to have additional permissions, then you might need something like https://wordpress.org/plugins/user-role-editor/
If you want some users not to be able to access certain pages, then you might need something like https://wordpress.org/plugins/s2member/
Without knowing exactly what extra permissions, enhancements or access you mean, it is difficult to be specific.
November 24, 2014 at 7:22 am #22402hi,
thank you for the help.
i intend to use your product to create a platform for shop-owners to publish their places and for customers to input their comments and rating for each shop.
for the shop-owners – i wish to have access that will allow them to set promos, description of their business, services provided, contact and location details, and such – all this under their “place” page.
for the customers – to be able to communicate with the shop-owner via the platform, comment and rate the shop/service, and to have a follow up registration option for each shop.

What you described in the last post is exactly what GD will do for you without anything extra to be implemented.Shop owners can submit a listing, and can add all these things.
And customers can communicate if the shop-keeper adds an email address to their listing. That will add a contact form to the shop’s listing page (you can see that on your london listing page). There is really nothing additional you need to do as per your description.
November 24, 2014 at 11:30 am #22419If that is the case, the “how-to” is not so clear to me.
i would be happy to find more tutorials on how i can implement this properly.
from the start i saw GD as the suitable solution, but implementation became a bit of a struggle, hence my infinite questions.

November 24, 2014 at 11:42 am #22421Try adding a listing as a shop-owner, you already have the Add Listing added to your menu. Just logout as admin, or use another browser. That will show you how it works. Or have a go at the demo at http://wpgeo.directory/
You will need to enable user registration, before you can add a listing as another user.
That is all you have to do to implement what you want; it is all set up already.
November 24, 2014 at 12:29 pm #22431i tried that, i get the easy sign-up part. hence the question to enhance and harden registry mechanism and you suggested a 3rd party plugin for that
November 24, 2014 at 12:33 pm #22433I also suggested this if you did not want to use a 3rd party plugin:
If you do not want to use any other plugin, follow these steps to force people to verify their email address:
1. WP > Settings > General > Membership > Anyone can register > YES
2. Implement http://docs.wpgeodirectory.com/redirecting-the-login-page/
Redirect to wp-login.php
3. GD > General > General > Allow user to see wp-admin area > YESNovember 24, 2014 at 6:42 pm #22481please stop providing support to this Gentleman till further notice.
