Warning Session Start Error Code Line 280

    Doing a migration from one hosting company to another, everything is working fine at the moment. When i check my virtual host before changing dns, and click on any pages related to geodirectory, this is the code that pops up and it blows my screen up. It doesnt seem like it is a plugin error seeing as how it is working on my live server. Just thought id cover all my bases. Thanks!

    Hi,

    make sure the /tmp folder on the new server has the right permissions.

    Ask to your server admin in case you have doubts.

    We are going in a support loop hell.

    Your email says we need to check the server permissions, but don’t tell us what you expect those to be.

    HostGator says the permissions are fne, but they don’t know what other specifics (if any) you might be referring to.

    Also, please provide any server specs besides permissions that might be affecting this. We cannot complete our site move without this working – and this is the only thing on the site not working after the migration.

    Hostgator is one of the most unreliable (and slow) hosting providers from my experience. Permissions should be 755, but you can try 777 if 755 doesn’t work.

    However I asked to the developers to tell us if they have anything to add.

    If you showed that error to your host:

    Warning: session_start(): open(/tmp/sess_7c3056e87ad1757150bc17ad0695aecb, O_RDWR) failed: Permission denied (13) in /home/asport/public_html/wp-content/plugins/geodirectory/geodirectory-functions/geodir-class-session.php on line 280

    and they don’t know how to fix it… then change host…

    It’s not something we can fix, your host needs to fix this.

    I also have the same problem on my website: http://www.noguaruja.com.br

    My server is on http://www.locaweb.com and the permissions on the / tmp folder were already changed to 755 or 777 and did not fix the problem.

    What can I do to solve it? I’m waiting … =(

    Hi,

    your server is currently not using that folder for sessions, it is using this:

    /var/lib/php-cgi/session/ (that apparently doesn’t even exist on your install)

    Please ask to your server admin to fix your server configuration.
