    Hi,

users adding their listing is a core feature of the plugin. You just need to activate it in GeoDiretory >> Design >> Navigation.

Show add listing navigation in menu

Allow post type to add from frontend

Show add listing link in add listing navigation

I’m not sure what you mean by max search options, but we only have one add-on related to search and that is the advance search add-on: https://wpgeodirectory.com/addons/advanced-search-filters/

Let us know if that helped.

    Thanks

You would need the Prices and Payment addon: https://wpgeodirectory.com/addons/prices-and-payments/

Have a look here to change text styling: docs.wpgeodirectory.com/customizing-your-style/

    Hi,

1st you’ll need to create the custom fields via GeoDirectory >> Place Settings (or other cpt).
    https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/core-place-settings/

2nd at the bottom of your new custom fields settings, enable it as a filter.

3rd go to the Advance Search Tab of the Place settings and enable yur filters.
    https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/advanced-search-filters-addon-search-by-distance/

Let us know if this helped,

    Thanks

I’m unclear how best to use categories and place filters

could a customer create a place with a clear tick box for them as to what they provide
e.g Pet Friendly, Real Ales , Live music, Real Fire , Hot Tub, plus areas e.g. Argyll, Skye etc ?

would this do away with the categories ?

at present i have categories doing this

You always will need categories, every listing needs to be at least in one category.
But some things are better added as custom fields, e.g Pet Friendly, Real Ales , Live music, Real Fire , Hot Tub.
    https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/core-place-settings/#custom

A category can be filtered on the map and with the advanced search.
A custom field can only be filtered with the advanced search.

For example, all features etc at http://goglamping.net/glamping-warwickshire-family-teeny-weeny-house/ are like custom fields, not categories.

i put the hotels post back and map has returned
there only seems to be a small amount of words showing on the pages for the description can’t find how to change this

I have managed to get the check box on for when you add a hotel but how do I get these options chosen to show on the the actual places thumbnails etc ?

    thanks

Depending on where you want the description showing (i am guessing you mean on the listings/categories pages) go to
GD > design > listings > Description word limit

To get custom fields to show on the listings/categories pages, tick “Show on listing page” in the custom field settings.

the word limit is set to 500 but not working here – http://www.stayscotland.scot/places/united-kingdom/perth-and-kinross/pitlochry-1/hotels/the-old-mill-pitlochry/

I don’t see a tick “Show on listing page” in the custom field settings.

That is not a category/listing page, but a detail page.
I am guessing you have limited the description characters in the price package for that listing.
I can see “For description you can use up to 140 characters only for this package.” when adding a listing.

Each custom field should have that setting. If yours does not, post your admin details together with where we find the custom field and we will have a look for you.
