I have tried using your theme and child theme, but it’s not working for me. I don’t think I have the main plugin figured out.. far from it
My first problem is, that it shows all of the geodirectory content with search and results above my navigation on the front page, even when my front page is not set to be the frontpage of wpgeodirectory.
I only want to display the search field on my front page, below my menu and banner, and then I want it to send to a specific page with search results and also the search field, none of the other stuff, and no map.
Then I’ve tried using my original theme, but it’s using visual composer and your plugin is messing up some important row features, so all content is full width, even when Visual Composer says it’s not. They can’t help, you might say the exact same, but they said to talk to you as the effect came after installing this plugin.
Anyway, I’ve tried to use the pages “gd front page” as a page in my own theme but there’s no content. Also I’ve tried using shortcodes, this displays it but it doesn’t work in a way where I can design it, from front page the search results page is an empty page which I have no design control over.
The same with the single listing pages.I know I’m mostly explaining and less asking questions, but I hope you can help me out with my situation, I’ve only installed this yesterday but am on a deadline with getting this setup. This plugin seems like the perfect solution, if I can only figure it out.
Thanks for your time 🙂
LykkeSeptember 1, 2016 at 6:12 pm #257608Hi,
as far as our child theme goes (Supreme), it adds the featured image with the search shortcode to any page that is set to be the front page, that can be changed, but it require editing some settings.
As far as your theme goes, I know many users are using VC without problems, so it’s probably just a matter of tweaking some settings in GD >> Theme Compatibility and we can do that if you provide a link and admin credentials in a private reply.
As far as adding content to the GD pages, particular Home and Locations, the content is added via Widgets. This should explain more: https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/layout/
Let us know if this helps,
Thanks
September 7, 2016 at 2:51 pm #261950Hi 🙂
Thanks for your reply. It did definitively help, I’m reading up on pages and layout, but I still have a lot of things to understand.I am adding one more reply with login credentials.Thank you for the help!
Hopefully you can help me with these extra questions as well:
1. In creating a new e.g. place, can I hide the location fields except for the autocomplete address fields? I see it’s figuring out the rest of the information on its own, so not sure why the fields are displayed, I can’t find a place to hide, except if I used CSS.
2. The search field inserted with shortcode is not acting like an address autocomplete, I keep searching on a zipcode I know I’m using, but keep getting no address suggestions, and no results.
– I have added the Google API’s as in your guide, but it’s not working I have done something wrong, I had to remove the code again because all my searches were getting error codes.3. In the search form, can I hide the category and free search fields? I only want address autocomplete search, because on this site it’s all the same category.
4. Is it possible for one post type (like place) to have multiple locations? I mean a lot of businesses has multiple addresses. Or would they need to create a profile for each location? (And have to fill out all the fields multiple times)
Thanks again, and thanks for your time

They are there because the autocompleter is not there by default and it can be disabled. In addition it sometimes can pull up wrong locations (especially if you have global directory) and having the fields there allows to see if it is correct and amend if needed.
2) The near field autocompleter doesn’t use the google autocompleter, but it only returns locations name that are present in your database (country, region or city name only).
3) Yes with CSS.
4) Each listing can have 1 address only. You can use the franchise manager add-on to add multiple listings with different addresses faster: https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/franchise-manager-add-on/
Thanks
