How do you customise the name of the categories? From hotels, restaurants to a different name
February 27, 2015 at 12:19 pm #32249You can change the category name going into the category section under the post type (e.g. Place Category), in the left hand side of wordpress.
February 27, 2015 at 2:10 pm #32260Thank you! What size does the category icon need to be I am going to upload a new one? And does it accept vector images
February 27, 2015 at 5:33 pm #32309Hi,
the size can vary, the default Google Maps icons are 20px X 34px
Example: http://playground.geotheme.com/files/2012/04/1.png
The best thing is to keep that ratio.
You can only upload Jpeg or Png files.
Thanks
February 28, 2015 at 6:30 pm #32400Hi
I am having trouble creating new categories and also the new icons are not showing which I have uploaded, please see http://www.hoodirectory.com. I have watched most of the videos but I am unable to find one that explains step by step? I am not sure what is supposed to appear in Count or slug? Do you have a guide on this and also the difference between the categories in posts and the categories in places?

There are only two listings (set as draft) but without (at least) a category set.
You can choose the category when adding the listing, there is a dropdown. If you want to submit listing outside your default city, you need the MultiLocation addon (available here https://wpgeodirectory.com/addons/multilocation/ )

– map isn’t showing because since the last time you ticked the post type and the categories in the settings were to HIDE, see attachment (it clearly says Note: Tick respective post type or categories which you want to hide from home page map widget.)
I’ve de-ticked all of them and now the map is showing the listing and the map.– if you subscribed for all the add ons and you cannot see the multilocation addon, I will let Paolo or Stiofan have a look.
March 3, 2015 at 2:26 pm #32708OK thanks I will wait for them to let me know about the multi location add on,
Also the map is showing now but it’s defaulted to satellite how do I change this to the normal google maps view?
March 3, 2015 at 2:40 pm #32711Default view is “Road Map” (so it has been changed before). You can change the map style in the widget, inside the GD Home Top Section. The widget for the map is GD > Gmap – Home Page and the dropdown for the map style is under the “Select Map View”
March 3, 2015 at 2:52 pm #32714Hi, I’ve asked Stiofan and you should be able to download the addon.
It is named Geodir Location Manager. -
