Hi all,
Client has reported search no longer works on their site http://stay-boutique.com/
The site hasn’t really been touched in 2 months or so, so I updated the plugin to latest to confirm it wasn’t that (search still broken).
No matter if I use FOR or NEAR, I am getting no results.
Examples:
Search for Grace Hotels in FOR field produces no results… but there’s a hotel with the title Grace Hotels.
Search NEAR West Hollywood (even selecting the drop down city suggestion) produces no results. There’s plenty hotels within 40 miles (our distance limit) of the center of West Hollywood.
Any idea? We’re scratching our head because I don’t think any of us even touched the site or its settings in this time.

http://stay-boutique.com/directory/
http://stay-boutique.com/But the search bar works on this page, and on your result URL above:
http://stay-boutique.com/hotels/
What the…?
November 17, 2017 at 2:12 am #405657Hello!
I do see what you are talking about now and we will need to login to diagnose the issue, as I don’t see any obvious errors from the public side.
Please create a private reply and include access to both WP and FTP. For WP we will need an admin account in order to view the settings for the GD Plugins. If you have a dev or test site, we can take a look there instead.
Let us know

I should have mentioned to first check if your WP and GD plugins are up to date. It looks like an update is needed. Get them updated first and let us know if that solves the problem.
You can try updating via zip file using this plugin recommended here: https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/useful-plugins/#easy

November 17, 2017 at 5:41 pm #405768Hi, updated WP to 4.9 and it looks like GD is up to date.
Didn’t solve the issue, unfortunately.
Do you still need the FTP credentials for more troubleshooting?
November 17, 2017 at 7:52 pm #405788The latest version has been just released, can you please update and let us know if everything is in order?
let us know,
Thanks
November 17, 2017 at 7:57 pm #405793Updated to 1.6.25 – no change, still not working.
November 17, 2017 at 7:58 pm #405797Hello!
For further diagnosis we will need your FTP access. Once you provide that, I will confirm access and flag a developer to have a look.
Thanks

when you search for gd_hotel it works:
stay-boutique.com/?geodir_search=1&stype=gd_hotels&s=+&snear=&sgeo_lat=&sgeo_lon=
when you search for gd_place it doesn’t:
stay-boutique.com/?geodir_search=1&stype=gd_place&s=+&snear=&sgeo_lat=&sgeo_lon=
I don’t see the places menu in the back end. how did you remove it?
However I see that you have 2 places: stay-boutique.com/wp-admin/edit.php?post_type=gd_place (without categories)
Are you using them? If not just delete them (from trash too) and it should work fine…
Thanks
November 17, 2017 at 10:56 pm #405822Oh man, not sure how those 2 places exist, but they definitely shouldn’t have been there. We don’t use places, just hotels. Deleting them fixed the issue. Thank you so much.
Btw, we removed places from the left side menu for simplification, so the client doesn’t get confused:
function remove_menu_items() { remove_menu_page('edit.php?post_type=gd_place'); } add_action( 'admin_menu', 'remove_menu_items' );
November 17, 2017 at 10:57 pm #405823You are welcome 🙂
