Hi, I’ve downloaded the ‘sample CSV’ for importing locations. It doesn’t have any columns for UK address details, I’d like to display UK universities as ‘Locations’ and include their addresses formatted in the conventional UK format, Building name/number, Street Name, Neighbourhood, Town, County, Postcode.

Is there a way to modify the Directory to allow me to upload and display locations using a full UK address instead of the Latitude & Longitude coordinates?

The visitors to he site will begin their search by typing a few letters of a University’s name or its town-name, I’d like them to be able to link to a page or see a popup that shows a wiki-style overview of the information we have on that University, including its address and contact-details.

    Please review https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/definitions/#location
I suggest you go to the frontend of your site and add a new listing, you should see the automatic address creation at work.

    Thanks

Hi, thanks for the link, I may be misunderstanding your instructions, but the Location of the Universities aren’t intended to be listings. The Accommodation addresses in the region of the Universities will be the listings.

The Universities are ‘Locations’ from which the Listings will be filtered as: ‘less than 1 mile from this Location’ or ‘less than x miles from this Location’.

I don’t want the students to be shown the addresses closest to where their ISP geolocates them. They want to see what accommodation is available in the city, several hundred miles away, near to the University they have applied to.

    Please review https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/definitions/#location

Refers to cities (towns or villages etc), regions (states or provinces etc) and countries
For every location in your database there will be a separate page created automatically
These locations are based on the Google Maps API, and the size of cities (towns, suburbs or villages etc depending on the country) can vary greatly from country to country.
Your locations need to be therefore always city > region > country, exactly like Google suggests when you add a listing from the frontend.

The Universities are ‘Locations’ from which the Listings will be filtered as: ‘less than 1 mile from this Location’ or ‘less than x miles from this Location’.

You cannot use universities as Locations. Locations have to be towns as per Map API, see above.
But visitors can search for a university in the location, they do not have to be entered as locations.

You only need to add your accommodation listings, nothing else.
You can test on our demo site.
    Go to https://wpgeo.directory/docs
In the NEAR field, enter “Oxford University” and click the search icon [see image 1].
The results will show you the listings near the university.
The only thing we did was enter the listing for the accommodation.
The search knows where Oxford University is without having to add that as a location.

I suggest you start your site and it will become clear. Once your site is up, give us the URL and WP admin details in a private reply if you need more pointers.

    Thanks
