Hello,
I am working in a development environment currently trying to configure Geodirectory properly. I have noticed that when viewing my individual listings, the map on one of our sites is not showing as intended. This problem persists among all listings, it seems. Please see attached for an example.
I did run into some issues with the import since not all of our listings originally contained addresses/latitude & longitudes, and I am quite positive I have the settings and widgets (using WordPress) configured the same way as our other sites.
I am not able to provide log-in information, but I am hoping that someone has run into this issue before and can provide a solution. Is there a setting somewhere that is off or something?
October 12, 2018 at 3:35 pm #449472Hi Bart,
Thanks for your post. Could you perform the basic troubleshooting steps like deactivating all non-gd plugins and see if it helps? Also, make sure that you’ve included your billing details when you setup up your Google Maps API. Check out this guide https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/add-google-api-key/ . If it doesn’t help, could you possibly clone the site to a staging URL and share WP admin access here in private reply so that we could check your GD setup?
Thanks!
October 12, 2018 at 4:10 pm #449478Thanks Kor,
Unfortunately we are not able to do any deactivating of plugins currently, and I do not have permission to share any log-in credentials. Sorry.
We have set up the Google Maps API correctly, so could it simply be a problem with Google Maps itself? The weird thing is that when I go into the back-end to edit any particular listing, it is showing up just fine.
If there is nothing else in the way of indirect assistance that you can provide, I can see if we could have our developers look into the matter. I was just hoping that I missed a setting or something that could be easily fixed.
October 12, 2018 at 4:31 pm #449481Hi Bart,
Thanks for your reply. If a backend login is not possible. How about a glance on the frontend?
Thanks!
October 12, 2018 at 4:37 pm #449483Yes, that is possible. After trying it just a few minutes ago I was either able to see the map fully, not at all, or with blocky patches of map/blank space. It’s very odd.
Here is the link:
October 12, 2018 at 5:19 pm #449490That is a listing map.
On the Home page you must use a Home page map.
Change the widget type and see if the problem is resolved.
October 12, 2018 at 6:39 pm #449502Hi Alex, thanks.
So I’m sorry, the link I provided is to the home page of the directory, yes. Good to know that I need to change that out, but on the actual listings are where the map in question seems to be affected. Here is an example:
The map type at the bottom of that page, and pages like it, has been having the issues present in the screenshot I attached in my original post.
October 13, 2018 at 1:39 am #449523You have a problem with cross-scripting, it seems to come from some ad management code you use: Hour Media Ad Management Javascript Tag – Generated with Revive Adserver v4.1.4
See https://www.chromestatus.com/feature/5718547946799104
Thanks
October 17, 2018 at 2:39 pm #450089Guust,
Thanks for clarifying that this is most likely the issue we are having. Unfortunately we are a business and have to continue ad-serving, and are not likely to change away from this particular service anytime soon.
We attempted a different method in applying the ad code using an asynchronous Javascript tag, but that does not seem to work.
Do you know of any work-arounds we could implement to have both the ad code in place and working maps on our listings?
Thanks.
October 17, 2018 at 4:06 pm #450111Hello,
the listing page map loads for me, did you fix it on your side?
The page has a number of errors and warnings in the console. Those should be addressed first to eliminate the possibility that they are causing the issue.
October 17, 2018 at 4:11 pm #450113Alex,
We are more concerned with the maps on the detail pages, like the one I linked above, which still seem to not work.
On my end the map still does not work. We may have to find a different map solution if we can not resolve this; as far as these errors and warnings you mentioned, would there be any specifically that we could try addressing that may conflict with the map functionality?
October 17, 2018 at 4:44 pm #450133Hello,
It loads for me, though it did seem to be temporarily interrupted by something else that was loading in the background. See screenshot attached.
Yes, all of the cross site errors and mixed content are errors about loading content from other sites, and can interfere with other processes doing the same thing.
