I use enfold and this is the scenario.
This is V1
1- Map 100% width, below the search box.
Then main content divided in main and sidebar.
2- Main
– Random listings showing all of them in clean exact size boxes, all images with same sizes, text length equal for all and read more takes you to the listing.
– Under that I have featured listings, just featured ones. Showing in small boxes with a featured badge.3- Sidebar
– Near me button
– Recent reviews
– Categories (in a collapsable box, showing in columns and clean)
– Tag cloud (All places tags)
– GD login box4- Listing post
Images, description and all the info in the sidebar. Now this is V2
1- Map 80% width (even having 100% specified) Below that with like 300px of space the search box with the icons of the input fields over the text not being able to read what it says and looking really bad.
Then main content divided in main and sidebar.
2- Main
– Random listings showing all of them in different sizes, all images have different sizes, text length is different in all of them with a grey gradient blocking it and read more expands the text there with no format at all instead of taking you to the actual listing.
– Under that I have nothing, because featured listings are not available anywhere.3- Sidebar
– Near me button
– Recent reviews
– Categories (A 5000 pixels list with grey boxes for your scroll enjoy)
– Tag cloud (All places tags)
– No GD login box, because it disappeared.4- Listing post
200 px before images, then images carousel with another 200px space under the images to then show the image name in a grey box and after that 40 dots. No listing info in the sidebar, that went away. Not good for a start. Am I missing something?
This upgrade really makes everything worse, the way to select options for each widget went away, now GD decides what to show even if you don’t want to. Other things went away, life login box, featured posts, etc… Why ?
The design in showing things with a grey gradient expanding things in place is really bad, is there a way to have the normal design and options?
Why show the image name under the images in a grey box and all the dots?
Why if someone see a listing, the main basic info is gone?
I will have to spend hours trying to replicate my site, which is really really simple, nothing fancy with v2.
Create widget areas for everything in enfold as short codes are not working and re arrange everything again.
Then if I have luck in local, do everything again in the live site. The do the same in 3 sites…
The transition and experience it is not good for a start.
If I am missing something, please let me know, because it is really frustrating having to re do everything in a “new” complicated and not easy way.
Thanks.
February 10, 2019 at 6:51 pm #4680611. A map element set to 100% width will expand to fill whatever element contains it. Check the properties of that element or consult your theme author for advice about how to make it 100%
All of the items you mention are design elements in V2 available as shortcodes, widgets, or blocks. https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs-v2/geodirectory/design-elements/

It sounds like there might be some theme documentation about layouts and sidebars that is worth a read.
Other things went away, life login box, featured posts, etc… Why ?
gd_listings can do featured listings, and gd_loop can also be sorted by featured. Is that the issue? The login is called “Dashboard” now. https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs-v2/geodirectory/design-elements/#gd_dashboard

In GDV1 the description was limited. Now the Archive item can output the entire description and without breaks, so this read more link was devised to give the archive item a fluid ending to cover up the remainder of the text. You can use the css here to start styling it the way you like:

GDV1 did not support title and caption, gdv2 does. You can show it or hide it based on element options.
The slider has an option to show titles, so, you can turn that off:

Sounds like you aren’t using GD > output location yet. Try adding it and Author Actions to your sidebar.
