I’m having the same problem that was posted by Tom Purdy with the details of my Places not saving. It seems this problem was solved through FTP, most likely by changing the permissions of one or more files, but the solution was made private and the topic was closed.
Can you explain how you solved Tom Purdy’s problem or provide some suggestions to resolve this issue? I’ve already re-saved my permalink structure as was recommended in another post; no dice.
Thanks in advance for your help.
April 3, 2019 at 9:55 pm #478044Can you give a link to the topic you are referring to?
Please post your URL and WP admin and FTP details in a private reply and we will have a look. ThanksApril 3, 2019 at 10:01 pm #478045Here is the identical problem solved by adjusting FTP it seems:
https://wpgeodirectory.com/support/topic/address-website-etc-details-wont-save/And someone else with a similar problem:
https://wpgeodirectory.com/support/topic/details-of-listing-not-saving/If you can explain how you solved the problem via FTP for that first link I can try myself. I think more of these solutions should be made public rather than kept in private posts so that others can learn them. If there is sensitive info then a followup reply explaining the solution would help limit the number of support tickets for duplicate topics that have already been addressed.

However, I have the same problem when I disable my custom theme and enable the basic WordPress Default Theme.
When I initially create/update Place information in the admin such as Address and Zip Code and press “Update” or “Publish” the page reloads, seems to erase the data I input, and defaults back to dummy data. However on further inspection, I noticed something else weird happening. If I hard refresh that same page and pay close attention to the Address and Zip Code fields, I can see the CORRECT data that I entered flash in the input boxes, only to be replace with the dummy data less than a second later.
It appears the data is being saved somewhere in the database but being overwritten in real-time with each page load?
Any help would be appreciated as this is a huge road block preventing any progress.
April 6, 2019 at 1:31 am #478776I added a listing from the front and all data saves: http://fellspoint.com/places/united-states/md/baltimore/restaurants-1/gadfgfg/
Same when I add a listing from the backend:
http://fellspoint.com/places/united-states/md/baltimore/uncategorized/guust-test/Can you explain more what your problem is?
Are you completing all required fields?April 6, 2019 at 1:45 pm #478905Look at the Address and Zip Code field for the two posts you made:
- http://fellspoint.com/places/united-states/md/baltimore/uncategorized/guust-test/
The “Guust Test” post for example shows the Address is Baltimore and Zip Code is 21203 in the backend. Then look at those two input boxes while you hard refresh the screen. You can see that for a fraction of a second they populate with “PO Box 893” and “4520” but then they get overwritten with “Baltimore” and “21203” almost instantly.
April 6, 2019 at 1:51 pm #478907All your listings need to be in Baltimore because that is your default location. If you want to add listings in other locations you will need the location manager: https://wpgeodirectory.com/downloads/location-manager/
Are there any other fields that do not behave as expected?
April 6, 2019 at 1:53 pm #478908Yes… all my listings are in Baltimore but that’s not the point. The address won’t save. Did you look at the address field in the test posts you made? Did you try to change them to something else, save the post, and look to see it shows afterwards?
The Address field and the Zip Code field will not save anything. They show “Baltimore” and “21203” no matter what you enter. Surely the Address field is supposed to allow street addresses and the Zip Code field is supposed to allow other zip codes within Baltimore- am I correct?
April 6, 2019 at 1:59 pm #478911Not with Openstreetmaps. With Google Maps it will be possible to use different ZIPs as long they are in Baltimore.
April 6, 2019 at 2:19 pm #478915Wow… I can’t believe that was it. Changed back to Google Maps and now I can save the location.
Unfortunately the map does not load and I’m not remembering that’s why I switched to OpenStreetMaps in the first place… to try to get the map to load.
On to the next problem, I suppose!
April 6, 2019 at 11:56 pm #478979Here are some differences between OSM and Google:
https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs-v2/integrations/google/#osmIt looks like everything works now, so I’ll set this topic to resolved.
Thanks
