Hi, I would like to add Level and Subjects to my advanced search options but in order to do so, I need to tick the ‘Include this field in sort option’ box in the custom field. Unfortunately, this option is not available in any other field than the Categories. So I can not add the levels and subjects to the sorting tab and therefore not to the search tab. Any idea what could be causing this? https://test.talentandskills.net/
I deactivated my CPT UI, ACF and Forum plugins and some other plugins, to see if one of them was clashing but to no avail.November 6, 2019 at 10:16 pm #516204A textarea or a multiselect cannot be sorted. It seems like you might want to use a select field if you want to sort the field.
November 8, 2019 at 1:23 am #516379Thanks for your reply Alex, but a select field can only have checked/unchecked and in the multi-select again I can not select ‘Include this field in sort option’. So does this mean that only the Categories are searchable? There is no other option to let people add the subjects and levels themselves and make them visible in search?
November 8, 2019 at 10:58 am #516415Tags, Checkboxes, Radio, Select, Categories and Text fields can all be used.
In 90% of cases I think folks would use tags or categories for this because they are searchable in the “Search for” field.
November 13, 2019 at 2:52 am #516873Hi, so how can I add choices to the checkboxes? where is the input field? I am sorry but the documentation is hard to find and searching in your support group is not showing the answer or it is from back in 2015 and not applicable.
Don’t you have a tutorial area where all these can be found?
Anyway, I attached the screenshots of the Checkboxes choices and I hope you can tell me how to add choices to the checkboxNovember 13, 2019 at 12:11 pm #516947A checkbox only has a label.
For a select field you can use a checkbox type input.
For more information about custom fields see:
https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs-v2/places/custom/
Try adding one of each field to your CPT to see all the options available.
November 13, 2019 at 3:42 pm #516982Okay, I am really sorry but I am starting to get very frustrated by now! Please have a look at the attachment I added here and please let me know:
1) is it possible to make a checkbox with multiple selections which will be visible in search
2) Which widget to use and how to do this, a step by step tutorial would be nice but if you can explain step by step instead of sending a link to something non-related to my question that would be perfect.
The problem is that the links have so much info but none narrowed down to this particular question.

Try adding a multiselect field, then set it up in the search tab.

November 15, 2019 at 1:34 pm #517288Hi, Thanks that worked well.
Moving on I now have a new problem. I can upload images and add location at the backend with add tutor, add tuition centre or add Enrichment centre in the custom post type itself. BUT I am not able to upload images, logo or set the address on the map when adding content through the submission form. Also, the map is not showing on the form while map API and all are installed. I googled all day and found a lot of people with the same problem. I deactivated the plugins, changed the theme, went through your list and can’t figure out what is going on. So I hope you can help with this as well. I also have the message Sorry, no records were found. Please adjust your search criteria and try again with the lattitudes. The URL is https://test.talentandskills.net/ it is a subdomain, not a staging site.
November 15, 2019 at 10:34 pm #517362Make sure every listing has a complete address and a category. If you export them you should be able see which listings are missing required data at a glance.
If we need to check the settings please share WP Admin credentials in a private reply.
