are there any known issues or special requirements for importing a listing? I’ve gone through the documentation, downloaded sample files, made my file match the sample files and its still not importing?

    Hi Eric Holst,

Thanks for your post. Could you share your Website WP admin access here in private reply so that I could try to import it for you?

There are, yes. The sample file is just a sample. To format your CSV you should first add a listing, then export it, then merge your data into the exported CSV file.

The file you shared is not the correct format.

When you add a listing and export it you will get a different column order. That column order is required, and imports that don’t use that column order will fail.

If you are seeing an error on selection of the file saying it is not a valid CSV file, that is a WP error that can be fixed as described here:

the order of fields is tied to the import process and files will fail if the fields are in the wrong order? seems like a VERY weak import implementation. ill try changing the order as per your instructions. thanks

Column order matters for all imports through the GD import feature, yes.

There is a setting, only one, when you import, that asks if you want to update existing listings.

If you import a CSV that has a listing ID (first column) it means you want to update that listing, and so that setting needs to be checked.

Otherwise, if you want to make a new listing, then make sure the ID column is blank.

The file you just attached has a listing ID for the single row, so, yes, it will fail if you are trying to import a new listing because it already has an ID.
