Hello for SEO reasons, it would be good, if there would be a possibility to set the “alt” and “title”-tag for images to something useful. (at the moment, I think they ar polulated with the filename of the image)
Is this already possible or would it be a feature request?
    Greetings Konrad

    Hello Konrad,

as far as I know, the alt tag is taken from the filename, so hotel.jpg will be alt=”hotel”.
I tried to change the alt from the media manager, but it seems that won’t reflect into the page.

That is correct, being images supposed to be provided by users, we take the alt from the image name.

If you would like to see this working differently, please submit a request here.

If it gets voted by many we will look into it.

    Thx

Thank you for making that clear. I am still in research mode and will submit the request if I start using geodirectory.

Not to beat a dead thread, but “alt” tags on images isn’t exactly a “feature request” item. That’s a high-priority SEO issue, and since GD doesn’t import the photos into the media library, plugins that would usually work to fix that problem (e.g. SEO Friendly Images) are useless. If the photos are coming in from Facebook, for instance, the filename looks like this:

    12678_26c0079c2b6f4e1cba683913dbdaea68.jpg

That’s worse than useless for SEO.

I agree this is not a feature, but a necessity – HOWEVER, for a different reason – it is not helpful for web accessibility! Can you please add the ability to edit the alt tag for people using screen readers?
