We must be seeing different things – I accessed the test event you’d entered, and the start and end dates on the back end show incorrect dates. (See screenshot.)

I did attempt to set the permalinks for the home page on the staging.actionargenteuil.com site (I’d really prefer we use this site to tinker with, not the live site), and the home page disappeared.

For the others, I don’t know what pages to set for the ‘add listing’ pages – as mentioned, we enter events manually, via the back end of the site. (Event, Add New.) I believe we are using the plugin as designed, just creating listings for users instead of them doing it themselves. That’s more of a process thing, no?

I’m still confused on how the permalinks section would affect a date issue from a custom field, though. The issue seems to stem from Geodirectory > Event Settings > Custom Fields, Start and End dates, which I believe comes from the Events plugin add on?

It would be great if you could help further on this, but I understand if you don’t want to.

There’s nothing to be set there – we don’t use any of those pages (except the home page, of course). We enter everything manually, and users don’t touch the site. The site’s been active for well over a year, and the date issue with events only began about 2 or 3 months ago. (Likely after a plugin update.)

I don’t understand how altering permalinks would repair the date issue on events regardless. How are the two linked?

Permalinks are already set (were set a looong time ago), so nothing to change there. Next step?

Yes, the custom fields start and end date are causing issues. They’re not labeled, but if you look at the following screenshot, you’ll see they’re the two fields directly below Google Maps and the ‘Select Map View’ radio buttons, and they have a ‘to’ between them.

When you click either of these fields, a calendar popup lets you select a date. I select the correct date, hit publish or update, and the date backs up a day.

If you go look at your test post, I entered Nov 25, hit update, and the custom start and end dates changed to Nov 24.

    Does that help clarify things?

I finally managed to import some categories, so yay! Thank you for that! But now there are other issues.

I’m using WPML for translation, which lets me switch between English and French to translate categories. (See screenshot Capture)

On the new categories I imported, as a new CPT called gd_restaurants, no translation feature is available. (See screenshot Capture2)

How do I ‘activate’ this so that the categories can be properly translated?

I tried adding a new category manually, in French. It automatically created it in English also, but in the French language. Editing one edits the other. Deleting one deletes the other.

That’s not at all how things work for the gd_place categories I have, so I’m baffled. Help?

Yes, the file encoding was UTF 8, and it won’t import anything that includes an accent. Any other ideas on how to get this to work?

Ah, interesting – it’s the French accents (such as é and à) that can’t be imported. When I removed them and replaced them with regular letters (e and a) on a test with just 3 listings, the import worked just fine.

But I can’t see how I can remove the accents on many listings – that would make a lot of manual labor to add them back in, one by one, once the listings have been imported.

I did try the HTML codes you suggested (such as making Québec become Québec), but that didn’t work. (The listings wouldn’t import.)

What other suggestions could I try to get those accents importing properly?
