It looks like the default values are being saved. Try removing the default value; default value will be saved, as it is different than placeholder text that is erased.

/wp-content/languages/themes/directory-starter-en_US.mo /wp-content/languages/themes/supreme-directory-en_US.moBoth themes need to be translated. If the files are in the right place then they will not be overwritten when the theme is updated.
