June 6, 2018 at 11:36 am in reply to: Don't know how to use "Make Friends" and "Message" features via Buddypress… #433910
…there is an error always pops up and that really driving us crazy. Here we go:
“Briefly unavailable for scheduled maintenance. Check back in a minute.”
After this error we unable to access our wp-admin. Please figure it out.
That is not a feature of GeoDirectory.
The Google Analytics accounts selector won’t let us to select any account. When We click on that field, nothing happened. Please take a look.
CHeck your analaytics account to make sure you have an account.
There is one more issue, we’re unable to delete a plugin, named “UserWP- Social Login” please delete it for us.
Try using FTP.
There is not an option to change the location, and so it would require a customization.
Hello,
GeoDirectory does not send user activation emails, that is a BuddyPress option, so it would be best to contact BuddyPress for support
If the email has been created, whether GD or BP, and shows up in email log, the issue is one of two possibilities, neither of which is something we can help you with:
1. The email is going to spam
2. The email is being blocked by your hostSpam
There are a wide variety of possible solutions, including using a domain email or getting a third party service to send email.

Host Blocking
Contact the site host and ask them about what you or they can do about email not leaving the server.
1. Is there a to replace ‘Places’ with our ‘Listings’?
Use the options in Geodirectory – Custom Post Types – gd_places – Edit
2. Or do we have to import all our ‘Listing’ data into you ‘Places’?
Yes they need to be imported into a GD post type.
3. If #2 is correct, then can you suggest how to import all the data into Places? Will it even work, cuz custom fields are not gonna match …?!
The short rundown is:
1. Configure place custom fields to have the fields you want
2. Add sample listings with representative data
3. Export places to places.csv
4. Without changing the places.csv, merge your data into the places.csv sheet
5. Check the sheet to make sure all required fields are populated
6. Save as import.csv
6. Import import.csv4. if #1 is correct, which will be really great, and what the best way to do that?
— Do we have to create an identical Custom Post Type as ‘Listings’ (our old one) and then transfer
the data manually?
— Or we have to implement Geo’s Custom Post Type extension to create an identical post like
‘Listings’ and then manually import the data.see #3
5. Geo plugin has GD import/export as a menu item. Can you plz explain how that can be helpful in the scenario above?
see #3

“Shelby” is in Arkansas, so says Google.
The autocomplete pulls from the list in the locations list, whereas ‘free text’ like “Shelby” makes a Geolocation query to Google for “Shelby”.Widgets must be added to the widget areas.
All the widget areas labeled with “GD” can have “GD” widgets added to them.
About revisions, please share FTP Credentials so we can check the settings in WP Config.
Hello,
GeoDirectory doesn’t have any specific features for that, besides allowing you to restrict whether a certain GD post type can be added from the front end or not.
These options are at GD – Design – Navigation
For page restriction you will need a membership plugin like S2 Members. We don’t recommend any particular plugin.
If you are looking for help with setup, you can find a GD Expert here: https://geodirectoryexperts.com
A normal WordPress query could be used to find out if a user has already created a post of a particular type.
Editing of the core plugin files is not recommended, but you can see this link for some best practices for overriding templates: https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/customizing-geodirectory-templates/
It seems like, from what you have described, that this might be an alteration to the add-listing template. This is a complex page and we won’t be able to help with the customization as we do not do customizations here in the forum.
https://wpgeodirectory.com/support-policy/
It is possible to create an add listing form for a particular post type using the shortcode, and then it may be possible to restrict access to that with a membership plugin or custom code based on custom coded criteria.

Hello,
when the theme is changed, then widgets must be added again, as widget settings are theme specific.
Widgets must be added to the GD Home widget areas in order to show listings on the GD Home page.
Hello,
this error is uncommon and usually database specific (the reason for the error itself) but can usually be fixed by changing the data type from VARCHAR to TEXT in the database, perhps via phpMyAdmin.
RE: Snippet, please see the original post with instructions

Let us know if it works as expected, and if not please share wp credentials so we can take a look at the settings.
Preferably, with an image for the featured listings, then just a list for the remaining which be my ideal scenario?
The display of the listings is set on the Design – Listing page settings
Excellent!
This reply has been marked as private. The event addon CPT date field is not available in Event Settings custom fields.
We thought you meant you wanted a custom field to show on the Map bubble.
You can remove the custom field at:
Geodirectory – Event settings – Custom fields – Date field (click red X to delete the field)
The default event date field shows in map bubble automatically.
How can we help you?
1. We haven’t started working on it yet for V2 so it will be some time yet before we can say what the release will include. I will flag your question for the developers and if they have an update they will share it here.
2. We do not perform custom development here in the forum. You can find an expert here: https://geodirectoryexperts.com
FWIW in the past some members have reported success with linking schemes using Toolset: https://toolset.com/2018/05/toolset-post-relationships-release/
It might be worth it to give it a try.
When you write in the box here, just check “Set as private reply” so only our team can see it.
