If you study the shortcode you will will the parameters that match the widget.
It looks like it is set for list sort A-Z, for example, and that it is using post type ‘events’

GD does not use the media library, so you will always only be able to choose to upload new images.
If you want to load the same image to multiple listings you can use the category default image, or export your listings, edit them, and then re-import them.

We have added a task to add author page widget areas, but, again, not all themes contain all the GD areas.
It is a wordpress comment notification, not produced by GD.
The Home map shows all the listings of the default post type. You can change your default location, or hide some categories, to adjust the center of it.

I recommend you make an export of a listing from your default location, and use that for all the addresses of each listing (not for street, but for the other fields).

The header right *will not* go full width, it would need a customization of the theme template.
Home Top widget area is in the content area and the will go full width.
