That’s just because of JetPack, which doesn’t like dev and staging sites. It only appears if you’re logged in to the site, usually clears with a refresh, and doesn’t happen on the real site.

Never mind, I figured it out! The instructions focus on Places, so that’s where I made the changes. But in my site Places is a distant third in terms of importance so all of my checking and testing from the front end was on my Clubs and Events categories.

Sorry Alex, I’m feeling a bit dense but don’t know what you mean, and the instructions at that page aren’t making any sense to me. Need help. : (

Here’s my Places Settings, specifically those within the Search by Distance.

The stuff about create a Custom Select Field in Search Bar is totally over my head. Where and how do I do “Create a new custom field that is a select field” exactly? If I click over to my Custom Fields tab I see an option to add custom fields, but this is telling me I need to add such a thing to my SEARCH form.

I’ve pored over that set of instructions and tried my best, but I’m missing something obvious, I know it, and am stumped.

Ah, that makes sense, that gives me EXACTLY what I needed!!! Thanks so much!!!

P.S. I’d stepped away from my site for a few months, came back, upgraded to new version and a few little problems I’d been having are now smooth as silk. Kudos to y’all for not just supporting the platform so well, but continuing to refine it, it’s amazing.

Thanks for responding so quickly, Alex. The short answer is “Yes, I think so.” but I’m not seeing what’s shown there.

Here’s my Event Date settings in the Sorting tab. They look just like what’s shown in the docs:
    null

But I’m not seeing these options in the dropdown where I expect to, as shown here, so thinking I need to check another box somewhere.

Here’s what my Search dropdown still looks like on listings pages and my home page:

I’m guessing and hoping that once I figure this out, that will lead to a URL that always presents events in the next X days, is that right? A URL I could link to in my nav, for example?

Sorry, to be clear, the above description is true, but the title is a bit off. I don’t have an expiration date even set for most of my events, and am hoping I don’t have to add one.

I think we’re both OK when issues turn out to be less interesting than we thought, amiright?

Thank you very much for the fast fix, it’s working like charm now which has freed me up to launch a new section of my site this weekend. Much appreciated!
