This would be because when you switch like that, you switch from the GD Home template to the Blog template, which probably use different CSS styling.
If you want the search widget to look the same on both templates, you will have to tweak your CSS.

You can change the description below the field at GD > Place Settings > custom fields > Field (Twitter) > frontend description.
That allows you to tell users how to enter the information.

It is not possible for the moment to have a default value showing like you suggest.
I’ll alert the others to have a look at your topic too.
It might be possible to put a default value like that for all URL fields and maybe some validation too.

The location switch is working for me in Chrome, FF or IE (it takes me to another location), but it does not show the change in the location switcher itself.

I do not understand why you have a map on the everywhere location page, but not on any other location pages.

Your header and functions file seem to be fine.

    Let’s wait for Paolo.

The only way to get something to show on a map is by giving it coordinates like lat and lng.
That lat and lng therefore have to end up in your database, or your maps will not work.

Google will only give suggestions for regions and cities if they are not in your database already. If you start typing Amersfoort, and that is already in your GD database as a location, the suggestion comes from your database, not Google.
But if you are looking for Kaatsheuvel and that is not in your database yet, it will start looking in the Google database.

You can also drag your marker on the map to where you live, and the system will calculate the lat and lng. Then it looks in Google’s API and those coordinates in their system are organised by country, region, city and street address.

But in the end you need lat and lng in the database or your maps will not work.
You need proper addresses or the location pages will not work correctly. For example Amsterdan and Amsterdam would create two different location pages, even if they have the same coordinates.

I know it all is a bit complicated, but only simple things are not complicated. And this is not one of them 🙂

To hide the button and the map on your add listing form:

    #geodir_post_map_row {display: none;}

ALL/ALL should not be possible again, there should be checks built in that prevent that. That happens if you somehow save a listing without a proper address.

I hope there is some wisdom in my answers 😉

I am going to pass this one to Paolo.
This might be Siteground related, and I cannot figure it out.

I’ll have to get Paolo for this one, I’ll explain the problem for him:

    1. Site uses Avada
    2. There is no option to choose to choose a front page at WP > Settings > Reading
    3. The location switcher is changing the location in the URL, but the switcher is not showing the changes.
    4. Location page does not show any of the widgets added.
    5. The listings and detail pages are working fine.

Places does not refer to locations like cities etc, but refers to businesses etc.

So why are you not updating the live one to 1.3.9 and then apply the fix in the link I posted?

You got to make the changes to the postcode AFTER you set the lat and lng, and then NOT click “set on map again”.

With region and place, that should not happen, but when it does, follow these instructions: http://docs.wpgeodirectory.com/faqs/how-do-i-merge-locations/

You should not use W3 Caching, but consider GD Booster.
    I de-activated for you.

Have you always used Custom Sidebars?
Does turning off the sidebar plugin fix things?

You need to edit your Recurring times. Number of times that subscription payments recur needs to be specified as an integer with a minimum value of 2 and a maximum value of 52. (ie not 999).

    1. You can NOT edit the virtual pages, but you can modify the templates: http://docs.wpgeodirectory.com/customizing-geodirectory-templates/
    I restored them.
If you want to add things to GD pages, the easiest is to use widgets etc; or use the category descriptions.

    2. You cannot use WP Super cache and GD Booster, that will lead to troubles. I de-activated Super cache.

    3. You can always clear the GD versions at GD > GD tools > clear versions.
That will force the updates if any are available.
Check your username and password and input again at GD > auto updates
I changed i there to test, and your details must have been wrong, or maybe a caching problem.
    http://docs.wpgeodirectory.com/faqs/what-is-the-best-way-to-update-the-gd-plugins/

    4. Installed this fix: https://wpgeodirectory.com/support/topic/split-icons-not-shown-on-maps-or-popular-categories
