Have a look at GD > Place Settings > Sorting Options tab > clink on the Random field on the left > set the field to be the Default Sort and Active.

1. That code above: can it be used on any GD site to hide a free pricing package? (I would just have to change my pricing numbering sequence)
Yes, you can hide any price package like that from the Add Listing page.2. Is there an easy/internal GD way to inform a business of a listing so they can claim it? Like a setting that can send them an email if you enter one in the listing? Or is Manually emailing them the only way (electornically that is)? Some kind of “ping the owner” feature would be nice if one doesn’t exist.

WP admin access will also give us to your plugin and theme files to check what the problem is.
I am not sure there is anything we can assist with without access, I will leave that to a developer to look at and reply.

Each users number of favorites can be shown in the user’s profile if you use UsersWP or Buddypress.Thanks

You need to select a price package in the Add Listing page before adding all data.
Changing the package reloads the page, so any data that is not saved yet [as is the case] gets discarded.That behavior will be different if you edit an existing listing, because the data is saved in the database.
