    Thank you.
Would think people might be using in sidebars — which would also be a fraction of the page.
Utility already (I would think) assessed via the different sizes of images in Listings ( Geodirectory>Design>Listing) so wouldn’t require HUGE rewrite.

    Would load lots faster!

    Thanks again.

I am still confused. This is on our home page: https://thechristianbusinessdirectory.online.

In the body of the page are multiple listings with images — in Geodirectory, have set the images as 300×300 and these small images load faster and “obey” me. Great idea.

In the Supreme footer — which is 4 distinct segments — I have put a slider in the second segment.

That means this listing slider takes up 25% of the width of the page. BUT…each of these slider images appear to be the SAME size as the default featured image shown at the top of the Details page…i.e., they’re HERO-IMAGE size — big!

It seems to me there should be a setting to give a choice of image size for the slider…just as there is in Geodirectory>Design>Listing to use the 300×300 size or whatever.

Otherwise, in this 25% width spot, if I choose to have 5 “sliding images” — i have to load 5 HERO-SIZED feature images. It doesn’t make sense to me.

    Could you explain further?

You are kind, Guust. Thank you for taking the time to look at that.

I learned something — will pass it on to someone else who might be distressed by the disappearance of the WordPress standard custom fields.

You were 100% right…it WAS/IS a plugin…Advanced Custom Fields. This is not the FAULT of ACF, it is the INTENT. Apparently, the plugin is to take the PLACE of WordPress’s own custom fields.

“Advanced Custom Fields (ACF) is a free WordPress plugin that replaces the regular custom fields interface in WordPress…”

I didn’t realize it because I’ve never tried to use ACF at the same time as I used WordPress’s standard custom fields. A learning experience.

I determined this more easily than I had thought — using the marvelous plugin: Health Check with its trouble-shooting abilities. Really a useful tool for a developer’s toolbox.

With Health Check, I can easily turn off ACF, go into Home Page, change the Subtitle custom field (Supreme Theme) then turn ACF back on for other use I have for it.

But…I wonder. Is there some kind of filter I could use for the Subtitle so I could put a subtitle custom field into ACF and use it in the filter?

As I said, with Health Check I have a perfectly viable workaround. Just wondered about the filter.

Thanks again for giving me a pointer as to where to look. It pointed true!

BTW, seems like GeoDirectory itself lazy loads in the listings? Is this accurate? Seem to appear as I page down the page.

Thanks for that very good suggestion! DEFINITELY have to do something about those HUGE images. On single place Detail page didn’t seem SOOOO huge and (thus slowing)!

BTW, the slider I am using is gd > listing slider in Appearance > Widgets.

Not certain if this is GeoDirectory- or Supreme theme-related.

Since GeoDirectory plugin does already tweak image sizes for the Listing section (i.e., where lots of places appear with smaller images on search) thought that same finessing could be done for images in the GD > Listing Slider, too.

Maybe this is Supreme-theme related instead of actual plugin-related?

To my knowledge, the GD > Listing Slider does NOT have any lazy load capacity…was a little nervous I’d introduce a problem with AutoOptimize and SuperCache if I threw another plugin into the mix. There certainly are Lazy Load Image plugins out there, though.

The Listing Section image sizing tweaks are in the Geodirectory > Design > Listing section.

The slider images are the Detail page hero images.

    They’re 1400x something.

Say the home page slider has 5 featured places.

You’re saying it won’t slow down significantly with 5 200KB images? Or you’re saying those 5 place hero images should clock in as 200kb when size is added all together?

    Sorry, I didn’t quite understand.

I know the Listings on the Home page can be finessed to different sizes. Thought there was something like that in the Slider?

Okay, I repeated exactly your example — and it worked exactly as your said.

(I actually tried before, but thought there was problem because I used the single quote when I put in the string of values, thinking I had done it wrong in the past — and it looked a little odd :})

But…I have a thought. Maybe (and I honest cannot say because I don’t have a mental timeline on this) — possibly I changed the value of a listing in the radiobuttons.

And I THEN set a default?

That might not set value for everybody because in the database there WAS an EXISTING value for the field? And wouldn’t overwrite the existing value with the default. (That would make sense.)

Anyway. One of my radiobuttons doesn’t have a black-dot in front of the default, one does.

Not a killer, I was just trying to understand how it worked.

When field displays in NON-editing form, it DOES show the default value. Really, that’s all I need. I just didn’t understand what I had done differently between the two fields!

Alex, sorry I bothered you — and thank you for your perserverance! I will make sure I set a default in the future BEFORE I put in even a testing value.

Maybe this will help someone in the future.

That was really helpful. Thanks for taking the time to look.

In my CSS, that was the only (well, according to w3.org) error and I fixed it. But…didn’t fix problem.

Went through wp_add_inline stuff in my code — still no joy. (And I was so SURE that was problem.)

Finally, went to w3.org and ran whole page instead of individual css files.

Saw reference of error in plugin css (fortunately included name of plugin because it was sort of appended to file dynamically) and turned off just that plugin. That solved the problem, letting AutoOptimize do its thing.

The plugin included options for selecting colors within it, then emitted CSS, I guess? Anyway, solved my AutoOptimize problem.

Your tip about it being problem when logged OFF really helped me test. (Because…I was checking on phone and Ipad without logging in, but thought the format (mobile/responsive) was the problem, not being logged in/out.)

    Thanks again! Whew!

    Really runs faster now.

No, I think the problem occurs because on the BACKEND, the number of images allowed shows as UNLIMITED, whereas the GeoDir->Prices and Payments->Prices->Free GD_Place has Images as 0.

Think that UNLIMITED bit is saying, “Keep these images and, hey, you have image in first spot, throw it up as a Featured Image.” (Okay, it may not be actually SPEAKING :} but you get the idea.)

That would make sense, even if functionality isn’t quite right.

Think I have wrong option somewhere…but the question is…WHERE?

Oddly enough, the display “removes” the photos from appearing on the photo tab…which would be in line with the Images=0 bit.

Unfortunately, I had two Expired listings as examples and they have been altered back to listings, so I can’t send you to them right now.

BUT…If you’re logged into the BackEnd and look at any Free listings, you’ll also see Unlimited, as well.

Does that alter when logged in or not? (i.e., always unlimited for Admin?)

So, you are saying, if I add your radiobutton sample of custom fields to existing listings, the radiobutton will be blacked in, as well as showing on, say, the Details page?

BTW, the key seems to be the Optimize CSS…if that’s unticked, there is no problem. (No help for speeding up CSS, either, of course…)

Sorry, I have to deactivate AutoOptimize for the rest of today until about 6 pm.

Would it be possible for you to recheck on your Ipad and/or phone then?

Same problem is now occurring on desktop. Clearing cache seems to have some delay.
