Thanks very much, Guust!
Hello Kiran,
Thanks for that suggestion.
I ended up using CSS to achieve something close to what I was looking for, i.e. making it visually easier for people to select from a large amount of categories. I made the tier 1 categories bold and with larger text, tier 2 (the important tier) I made blue with a light gray background, and tier 3 is just regular text. I also increased indents between tiers. This achieved some visual separation when scrolling down the list, making it easier for users. I have attached an image to illustrate.
Thanks for your help!
Regards,
JohnThanks so much, Alex. I will look into Select2.
I think it would be a useful thing to implement this as an option in GD. When a directory has as many categories as this site I’m working on, it can become an intimidating thing for users to select categories. A tree-like checkbox option will make it a lot easier for them.

Hi Alex,
I ran some tests and as I suspected, this line…
RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} WordPress [NC,OR]
…in my .htaccess filed caused the problem. The moment I commented it out, all worked fine.

This reply has been marked as private.Eureka! The problem is solved! It turns out that there was an entry or entries in my .htaccess file that caused it. My host switched my .htaccess file with the standard file that they put on sites and the problem disappeared.
If it might help you guys solve future issues, I’d be happy to paste both .htaccess files below for you to inspect.

Thanks for your response. Now I’m wondering what I can do to fix this. Here’s what I’m thinking…
1. Create another listing package, identical to the current Premium package, with the exception that is it not recurring. This new package also downgrades to the Basic package upon expiration.
2. Set all my unclaimed listings to this new package and change the expiration date to a date in the past.
3. Use the “Run Expiry Check” tool to enforce the expirations. Will that do the trick?
Thanks,
JohnThanks, Paolo. Are some of your developers located in Mexico? My site is not currently available to me, and I got notice that someone from Mexico logged in using the credentials I provided to you.
