I figured out the z-index issue. If anyone else has this problem this is the code to adjust:
.geodir_map_container { z-index: 80; position: relative; }
@stiofan – if you’re at all interested, the auto zoom on a worldwide directory could pose an issue when using the map. From what I understand it will zoom over a calculated area based on the listings, if you have listings on two different areas of the world the center appears to position over the middle of the map – in a place where you very well may have no listings at all.
This thread highlighted the issue. I have no listings in Africa, yet Africa is where the center is calculated and where the zoom is applied. Thank you.
“The center of the map is calculated according to the listings position.”
So doesn’t that mean that if you have listings around the world that the center will be calculated in Africa – or if not Africa as you say, it could be centered in an area in where you possibly have no listings at all?
And it’s not arguing, it’s trying to understand how the function works and to point out a potential issue with the logic that may be overlooked. After all it’s a beta, is it not okay to point out issues? All my previous posts questioned about the zoom being over Africa which I found to be very odd.
This reply has been marked as private. That’s unfortunate, this seems like a relevant concern – zoom should not be based on Africa. Just my opinion…What file would I look at the edit the zoom position? Since it’s set to the center of the map, I should also be able to edit this to have the alignment adjusted.
Also the issue of the navigation drop down being covered by the map when I’m logged in is still an issue. Can you please let me know what layer I can adjust z-index to fix this? Thank you again.
Hi again – not sure if this was missed. I’d really like someone to take a look at the map zoom configuration if possible. With the current settings, if anyone has a map with listings worldwide, they cannot focus on an area of say – their home office. They would be forced to zoom in on Africa – even if they don’t even have any locations there. Not sure if this can be tweaked. Thank you.
Oops! Take a peek again please, I forgot to save the code I added. 🙂

I’m back – so my directory is not utilizing photos/sliders on the detail listing template. I’m just trying to manipulate the default listing image(shown in widgets). Any ideas on getting working that out without having to manually upload an image per listing? Thank you.
Hey great thinking – I will have a look at this. Much appreciated!
Hi everyone, thank you for the feedback. @guust – the code worked enough so I could tweak it a bit and have it display to my liking. I’ve checked the sub-menus again, and it seems that it is just getting stuck behind the map when a user a is logged in. If you view the site without logging in, the sub maps are fine. I’ve tried to add z-index to several different options, with no luck. Can you please have a look? Thank you.
@paolo – maybe that could be revisited? This means that if anyone has listings around the world that their maps will automatically center over Africa, which seems a bit odd. Especially in a case like where you cannot select the focus area priority. Alex suggested the advanced settings, which seems to fix this – to an extent.
@ayecode_alex Thanks Alex – this almost works perfectly. If I specify a country and region, it will focus over that area – but it will only show the markers for that specific region. However, I am trying to focus over a region, but allow the users the freedom to move about the map and find other locations as well. Since most of my listings are in the USA it would seem that should be the focus, which is what I’m trying to achieve without disabling all markers beyond the specified region.
Thanks again guys, you’re the best!
Hi, yes I did add the zoom level to 4 because otherwise the markers are teeny tiny.
If you zoom out, you’ll see that most of the markers are in the U. S., there are only two markers in Africa, so I’m not sure why the zoom level focuses there. You should be able to either position where the zoom level occurs or it should be based on your default location or where the bulk of your markers are. This way, if anyone has a worldwide directory, the zoom focus will always be on Africa since this is the forced “center”. Any thoughts on this?
I’ll look at the overlapping issue and report back. Thank you.
