Hi MB,
All things considered equal, have you noticed any differences in page speed, load time, etc with PHP7?
I am assuming 1.5.8 is the most current?
Thanks for this Guust. Ultimately it looks like I should enable multisite right from the initial installation and then turn on the network as I add features like the forum (which will not be until we hit critical mass). A very powerful but slightly confusing feature!
Thanks for the clarification Guust.
February 11, 2016 at 5:28 pm in reply to: Cloudways vs Digital Ocean – why not go with Digital Ocean directly ? #120858I looked into Digital Ocean before I went to Cloudways and I agree with Paolo here. Unless you are an educated server admin or you have one on your team, Cloudways makes accessing and using Digital Ocean relatively easy. From setting up a WordPress site to installing an SSL certificate, Cloudways’ interface is very user friendly and when I got into a jam their support system is top notch. Highly recommended.
Great looking site! Would love to get more details about how they did it. That might be a great idea for the GD Blog, interviewing GD powered site owners about how they run their business and design their sites. Would love to help in this respect if there is any interest by conducting the interviews since I have a background in that. Let me know!

Thanks!
I use something called ServerPress for development and it works seamlessly with a live production environment. You should give that a shot. Easier than XAMP and the basic version is free.

January 27, 2016 at 3:10 pm in reply to: Quote to integrate iCal and Google Calendar export functionality into Events #112418I am willing to pay 50% to have the code implemented and then made available as core if Stiofan and Paolo would agree.

January 21, 2016 at 9:58 pm in reply to: Quote to integrate iCal and Google Calendar export functionality into Events #69842I see that Templatic have an export to calendar on their Events plugin. Would it be possible to reverse engineer it?

The dummy data can be loaded from the General section of the GD settings menu.
As for tutorials on starting and creating databases you need to first come up with a distinctive niche and research the market to see if anybody is already doing something in that area and then work like crazy to get the listings information and populate your site. There is no easy one button download to create a successful directory business.
That’s my 2 cents.

I am using it as well without the caching (I am using GD Booster) and it works fine.
