Any news on BuddyPress integration? I am looking at hiring a developer to integrate Geodirectory and WPJobBoard into a BuddyPress enabled site and this would solve some headaches (and probably knock down the development quote!).

    Thanks.

Or if you can lock the map. I have been on so many sites on my phone where you scroll down and then hit the map and you cannot get passed it because you are scrolling the map and not the site. Some have a feature where the map is locked and you click on it to unlock it so that you can scroll the map.

The nice thing about Avada is that you can essentially turn off those features you do not want to use. And the code is quite well written and fast. There is a fine line to be drawn for those of us who are not coders. Using a bare bones framework makes sense but sometimes it puts us in over our heads yet using a theme with all the bells and whistles sometimes saddles you with a lot of extra stuff you don’t need and it results in inefficient code. To me from what I can see so far, Avada allows non-coders to put together something useful while allowing advanced coders the opportunity to do a whole bunch of neat things. It all depends on your needs. What works for some might not work for others.

One important point to make though is always ensure that you have properly backed up your site content so that you are not entirely dependent on one theme and therefore you can change and experiment with others relatively painlessly. And experiment on a development server or use something like WAMP or XAMP!

Personally I think it is sometimes better for developers to maintain a relatively narrow focus instead of trying to add everything and the kitchen sink. If they could integrate a job board with GD that would be cool but this project is dragging along enough as it is so I am using best of breed now so I can get things going.

    And thanks!

I think it depends on what you want to do. My site is essentially an information source for progressive lawyers and the job board and community aspects as well as the blog are essential features of the site. The directory is important but not as important as the job board part so I am using a non-GD specific theme. Stiofan is apparently rewriting the CSS and certain other parts of the plugin so it will play better with well written themes so that is even more of a reason to stick to a non-GD theme if your site is going to be anything other than a directory.

Avada has all I need (and more!) and you can turn off what you don’t use so that is why I am going with that. Eventually I can see myself hiring a developer to better integrate the various functions of my site so that paying for a listing on the job board and directory are not handled separately but for now this will do.

WPJobBoard is a great plugin and the developer is very much like Stiofan and Paolo in that he is constantly updating and improving his product and is very responsive to the community so I highly recommend it. I have learned the hard way that going with freebie plugins leaves you vulnerable when the developer walks. As I am not a developer I prefer to pay for my code.

I am also using Events Manager and not the Events add on for GD for my events section of the site. That may change once I integrate GD into the site but currently I am using a standalone plugin.

That is exactly what I am working on with my project Progressive Lawyer. I am using WPJobBoard (http://wpjobboard.net/) and am moving to Avada mainly because GD will be compatible with it. The directory part of the site will be last though as I need to ensure the job board and then BuddyPress part of the site work properly in the way I need them to work and GD is not fully compatible with Avada yet.

Hi Paolo. I am assuming when you guys have made the plugin 100% compatible with Avada you will announce it here?

Good idea Dave. Similar to what somebody else suggested with Plugins. If they work well with GD we should note this somewhere. If it is a premium theme or plugin, the developers might even want see if they can sell it through Theme Taylors.
