I am using WPJobBoard and I was experimenting with Sabai Directory and LDD Business directory but mainly because GD had not been released. So now I have added GD and deleted the other two and am working with that exclusively because I know what the developers can do and it looks like the best is yet to come. For me the key is support. The Jobs Board and the other directory I am building are the foundations of a small niche side company I have started so I need solid support which both those plugins provide.
I will be updating my progress as I develop the site on the forums.
This is a great idea. +1
BuddyPress integration is coming according to the developers but I will +1 that!Ok Vikas.
@Manillaboy I just bought Avada and am going to use it on a music site I run and then a corporate site if that works well. I want to get the feel of it before using it for two more sites I am working on, one that is a jobs board with a directory and one which is essentially a directory only.
Because GD will be compatible out of the box with Avada I decided to give it a try and get some experience with it. It is extremely flexible and has some really cool features. It is also Buddypress and Woocommerce compatible which is important for me. I am just waiting on the word that GD is compatible with it before I work on the GD part.
I will hopefully have the jobs board site with the directory up within the next month or so.
I recently purchased the Avada theme and it is pretty impressive. GD integration was one of the reasons why I went with them. I am trying to consolidate my sites under a standard theme but which gives me enough flexibility to ensure they don’t all look the same and Avada seems to do the job. Good choice to work with this theme gentlemen!
Hi Dave,
Excellent, constructive advice. Thanks so much this is all very helpful.

+1 for X. I like that it has the flat design look and an emphasis on clean code.
This is an interesting point. I have been playing with this myself and having the option to set a default other than place might be a good idea. How big of a performance hit would it be if search searched all post types?
@liquidia If you are going to say something is poorly coded I think you owe it to the community and the developers to give some examples of what you are talking about. Considering the time that went into GD and continues to go into its development (it was just released for crying out loud) and the fact that it has been accepted into the WP Plugin database I find it highly dubious that the coding is poor.
Excellent! I am testing the plugin as we speak on a non-genesis framework since the directory is only part of the site but I have been holding off on another directory-based project for a heck of a long time and was about to dive in next month with some preliminary work using Genesis as my base. With news of this new Framework I look forward to seeing what it is all about. Include support for schema.org and responsive design (including images) as responsive is the future!
This is an important consideration as is making images responsive. Just working through this now.
This is cool but in my opinion geolocation should be a core function and not a plugin but it definitely gets the job done!
Hi Manilaboy,
I just asked about Geolocation and it is not currently included but they are working on adding it.

Thanks.
