Please excuse me. I’ve been over-complicating things. I’ve now managed to resolve the issue by simply reducing the entire page size by 2% in the GDF settings.
Hi,
I have changed everything over to the GDF Child Theme, and made sure all custom code is deleted from “Quick Code” in GDF settings, cleared all my devices caches but the right sidebar is still displaying at 29% on smaller screens.
This reply has been marked as private.I had it set to Multi City, which allows the system to add location criteria to the database, hence a village with 1200 houses is added as a City. When I changed to Enabled Cities it only allowed the user to select their location from the drop down list of those I’ve predefined.
I had misinterpreted the function of each setting:
Multi City – multiple locations
Enable Default City – only covers one area (e.g. London)
Enabled City – activate the locations you wish to appear out of those you’ve predefined. It’s the use of the word City/ies versus location/s. I had confused Multi City with Enabled City because I wanted to use more than one location – logic told me Multi City was what I needed. I didn’t realise that would allow Google Maps to enforce exact locations into the location fields and add them to my location list in the database. To my mind, Enabled City suggested using only one location.
If it’s something a lot of people mix up maybe it needs a better explanatory note by the settings, otherwise it’s not worth fussing about.
I think I need to check the settings in the back end. I have Multi City enabled, so I think I need Selected City enabled to prevent this. I’ll have a try.
*Yes, that has prevented this problem. I’ve changed Multi Region and Multi City to Selected Region and Selected City and it appears to be playing nicely.
That was my misunderstanding of the difference between the two functions. That works. I must’ve missed those settings. Thanks Paolo.
It autofills the postcode, but it’s still changing my settings and adding the village or town. So that listing still wont show up in the results unless you live in that village or town.
July 30, 2014 at 12:41 pm in reply to: How can I get the location switcher to show in the menu? #10350OK, I was looking in Appearance>Menu for a way to assign a menu to GD. I’ve since realised it’s under GD>Design>Navigation, and now the local switcher appears in the menu.
July 30, 2014 at 9:34 am in reply to: How can I get the location switcher to show in the menu? #10332Using the Avada theme with the GD Avada Child theme I can’t get the location switcher to appear either. There isn’t a setting in menus to allow you to designate a menu to GD. I can’t find a way of allowing users to choose a location at all!
Hi,
I have 3 custom post types but when I use the Login Box only the first 2 appear. I’ve checked my settings and each custom post type is set up the same, so can’t think of a reason why it isn’t appearing in the widget. It’s the default Events that isn’t showing. I’ve just tried adding a new CPT and that shows straight away, but the default Events still doesn’t appear.
Hi,
Thanks, I’ll take a look in location manager.I’ve just stripped out all the plugins and exported my customizations before deleting GDF altogether. Reinstalled everything exactly as before and the warning has gone. Oh well, at least it appears to be resolved.
