OK, thanks anyway. The work around has been to use Custom Menus for the sidebar on the Sub-Category listing page. Does’t when you drill down more, but a passable work-around.

    Thanks Guust.

Is there anyway to achieve 1) by any other means? A shortcode to display only 1 category id and its sub-categories?

Here is an example page – http://www.perthcity.co.uk/shopping/ – where I want the RHS sidebar to display only the Shopping header and subcategories.

    Thanks again

Hi Paolo, sorry for not being clear.

I am trying to create multiple top level categories (Shops, Attraction, Food & Drink, Activities). I was doing this with just the Places as the Master Category, but couldn’t find a way to display just one of the sub-categories (Shops, Attraction, etc) on the sidebar using the CPT Categories Widget on a page showing the listing for that sub-category. (i.e. if you are looking at a listing for a shop, the sidebar only shows the drill-down for Shops, not the others).

It looked like purchasing the GeoDirectory Custom Post Types would solve this – and it has!

But now the problem is at the input end – I can’t see how to have one “Add Listing” page for the different Custom Post Types (in my case Shops, Attractions, etc.) I also think it is now not possible for the user to add their listing simultaneously to more than one CTP – they have to add their listing twice?

So my question is two-fold –

    1) Is there a way to display only a subcategory in a sidebar using the CPT Categories Widget?

    or

    2) If GeoDirectory Custom Post Types is the only way to solve this, is their a way to combine “add listing” pages to using all custom post types?

    Hope this makes more sense?
