there is no way to it. V1 uses the file name as alt tag. What you could do is remove the image from the listing, rename the image file and re-upload it.
V2 will have options for image titles and tags.

Our slideshow doesn’t use the media library at all. It would add many useless rows in the database and could easily become a bottleneck for site performances.

Hi Alex,
that’s a problem with plugin adding fontawesome 5. Fontawesome 5 will break a lot of themes and plugins unless the author of the plugin using it, provide an option to fallback to fontawesome 4.
Please try to disable plugins one by one until you find the culprit.
Than ask for support to its author on how to disable their call to fontawesome.
