Hi,
GeoDirectory was designed to allow to browse one CPT at a time. Doing a query involving all CPTs would degradew performances of any website with many listing in various CPTs.
Thanks
June 25, 2014 at 1:11 am in reply to: Url-concatenated on chanche between popular location and popular places #6002hi,
yes we noticed it and fixed, it will be in the version.
Thanks for the heads up and I will leave this unresolved until you confirm with next version the that problem is definitely gone.
Please fix your database 1st as exaplined in previous post.
Than we can check why favourite is not working, but I suspect the 2 problems are linked.
Thanks
HI, thanks for reporting this.
I’ll flag it for Vikas. He’ll update you asap.
This is already in the wish list.
Thx
Ok, the problem was wp-super cache. It was cutting the URL variable while redirecting. I would avoid using similar caching solution with an app plugin like GD. It will break sessions and create all sort of problems like this one.
Plus GD is optimized so that a caching plugin isn’t really necessary.
ThanksHi,
I’m looking at your site and it is unclear to me how you are trying to use the plugin, but the configuration seems wrong…
Can you please send us wp admin credentials? You can do that in a private reply.
I’ll have a look and advise.
Thanks,
Hi celestinaadams,
I fixed your problem. It took me a while to figure it out. When creating your 1st location, you added city name, region, selected country and added coordinates in a wrong format (I think you got them from wikipedia or something) that were forcing google API to send an error as response to any query.
The only way to unblock it was to insert the right coordinates and save.
There is no need to copy lat and long from anywhere when adding a location. After adding city name, region and selecting country, clicking on the “Set on map” button does the trick and automatically fetch the lat and long coordinates from google maps API.
I’ll ask Vikas to add format validation on this fields.
Thanks
Hi Stever,
Did you add the listing via CSV? CSV upload doesn’t validate lat and long and addresses. It would time out in 99.9% of servers.
I think you uploaded the places with wrong Lat and Long coordinates.
For the listing iBud, the address was in California, but the map located it in Montreal. I edited the post clicked on set address on map and lat and long were fixed.
If you click on any pin on the map when the default location is selected, you will notice that all those listing have Denver addresses, but wrong lat and long coordinates.
Hope my explanation is clear.
Thx
June 24, 2014 at 11:54 pm in reply to: Internal Server Error when adding code to existing template #5986Hi,
the new template system is included in the latest version of GD. 1.1.3
Here Stiofan explain how to make GD 100% compatible with a theme. In this case Enfold:
https://wpgeodirectory.com/support/topic/enfold-compatibility-code-please-test/
Thanks
Yes, but after an address or zip that user inputs, it’s not difficult to add the name of the location to the query sent to google API. GeoTheme does something similar and I think both Stiofan and VIkas will agree it’s logical and needed.
GeoLocation on mobile will still use your IP, we can’t access GPS info that easily without an APP. In major cities IP location on mobile is almost as precise as GPS.
Thx
Hi,
I don’t see the map and the image out of the tabbed area. Just clear your browser cache and it should come back.
To see why the profile tab is missing I should have a look at your back end.
Can you please send me wp admin credentials in a private reply?
Thx
Hi Marco,
well that is a bug… GD should add new your to your Near filed query. If you have selected New York as location. I’ll ask Vikas to fix that…
Thanks for highlighting it.
1 Visitor come to your site > Home page = default location or everywhere
2 Visitor switch location to another location > Home page = the selected location
3 Home page is dynamic, it adapts to whatever location the user selects.
4 Visitor wants to go back to default location, he must switch back with location switcher (This is logical in my opinion)
5 Vistor leaves the website and comes back > Home page = default location or everywhere (clearing browser cache isn’t going to work because session are stored in the server, not in browser)
Making the home link the default location by default would be a big usabilty glitch and let me explain why making an example:
If I visit a site showing US restaurants and the default location is New York, but I’m from Chicago, after I switch location, I don’t want to be sent back to New York every time I click on Home link to browse other listings in Chicago. I want to see the Chicago home page…
Practical example: http://www.yelp.com/ default location = San Francisco
If I switch city and I click on Miami, the Logo and home link will not take you back to San Francisco (because it would be illogical I repeat). To go back to San Francisco, you must click back on the San Francisco link.
Hope that with this explanation we can consider this matter totally clear.
Thanks
Hi,
from what i can see it seems to be a conflict with another plugin or with the theme.I see this error on firebug
TypeError: jQuery(…).lightBox is not a function
http://www.champasaktourism.com/wp-content/plugins/geodirectory/geodirectory-assets/js/geodirectory.js?ver=1.1.3
Line 11I’d really need access to wp admin to try to fix it for you.
Just create a secondary admin and once we are done you can delete it.
Thanks
