Thank you Vikas! Please let me know if I need to use WPML like described here http://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/translating-page-slugs/ or you are going to implement this in a new core update.
The current collation is UTF8, the problem is when you try to change the location slug in the GD Permalinks settings. It would be nice if you can tweek the code so we can use non-Latin words. For now the only solution is to use the WPML plugin.
I think ‘eqhes’ has some solution to this problem using WPML plugin:

I will try this option and let you know.Paolo,
All my database tables have suitable ‘utf8_unicode_ci’ collation and I have no problem translating the PO files. Unfortunately, there is no CPT slug (places, services, hotels, attractions, etc.) in any PO file! That is why I still need your advice regarding this issue:

This reply has been marked as private.I have the same problem translating the post type / slug label:
https://wpgeodirectory.com/support/topic/translation-not-easy/page/2/#post-5481The CodeStyling Localization plugin shows the following error message for GD main plugin and some add-ons:
Compatibility – Loading Issue: Author is using load_textdomain instead of load_plugin_textdomain function. This may break behavior of WordPress, because some filters and actions won’t be executed anymore. Please contact the Author about that.
I need to have greek/thai/etc. letters in the location slug.
Any ideas how I can fix this? Maybe directly in database?Hi, I’d recommend this one:
https://yoast.com/wordpress/plugins/seo/I guess the GA statistics should show up in the gd-sidebar in listing details page like on this screenshot:
http://magyarhalozat.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/gt-snapshot-GA-no-stats-yet-message.png
Unfortunately, I also do not see any GA stat although I have it enabled to show in the GA tab. Please advise.Is there any way to split the geodirectory.po file into frontend/backend sections? I am translating 5000 records, 75% of them I translate to myself? 🙂
GD PERMALINKS TRANSLATION PROBLEM
How can I use non-latin characters in the URL slugs?
– Listing url prefix (‘place’ change to ‘θέση’)
– Listing detail url separator (‘place’ change to ‘ση’)Possible misspelling of _CATETORY_ in language.php: define(‘PLACE_CATETORY_TEXT’,__(‘Category’,GEODIRECTORY_TEXTDOMAIN));
CUSTOM POST TYPE LABEL TRANSLATION PROBLEM
Hi, please advise, how can I change the ‘Places’ post type label with a NON-LATIN letters like thai, japanese, cyrillyc, etc.? I am getting the non-readable letters. If this is not an easy fix, can I temporarily just hide it with ]css display:none’ somehow? Thanks!I have managed to show sub categories on the parent category page with the Multi Column Tax List plugin like this:
<?php $current_term = get_queried_object()->term_id; multi_column_tax_list('taxonomy=gd_placecategory&title=&child_of='.$current_term.'');?>
I am not sure if this is correct way, but it works. I hope GD will make an add-on for this someday.
