Yes I guess so. The shortcode builder in v2 is so great, and it would be supremely enhanced by this functionality. If so once can use it to build complex pages. Without it, I think i’m right in saying that we need a whole php template, right?
I’m not using a custom template. Where would I find this? Thanks!
In v1 I had a custom field called ‘facebook’ and ‘website’.
These are the names for default fields in v2.I can neither edit the existing field name, nor the new field name.
This means it is incredibly difficult for me to take advantage of the new features.
I mean.. not being able to search by them sort of .. what’s the point of them? If you click on one it will run that same search, so.. why NOT add it to the advanced search options?
This feels like quite an oversight.. such an oversight in fact that I feel I can’t have been clear.
on v2 it seems you can’t add a cpt_tag to the advanced search:

Yep it was active during conversion.
I have gd_blog gd_event both linked only to gd_place

I’m getting there I think.
The ability to use an image as a background image would be great but I appreciate it’s hard. I imagine a 3rd party slider would be even harder.
Taking a quick look at search: the default provides a search, map, and a brief loop. How would you recreate this page using shortcodes alone?
Functionally it makes a little difference. Eg I’ve set the template to use the 100% width template, which should make it full width. But all we’ve done is remove the sidebar and title.
So it’s change it, but again: only within the default template.
I really hope v2 would be more template agnostic, but it seems this is not the case.
I was hoping to use a page builder to give me:
– full with featured image carousel, with title
– main details in left bar
– meta in right sidebar
and all within the page builder for maximum flexibility and style.FWIW I’m using Avada, but I think this is a challenge regardless of the theme?
Is that just not possible?

Thanks Alex — you’d think so, right? But everything in my theme is set to “no sidebars” and yet there’s a sidebar, I can’t override the template, and can only control the main loop on the default template.
