Right now featured listing appear first in list by default, you can not separate them unless u write a custom code for it.Sorry i ddint understand ur second question. Please explain it more or may be attach a screenshot which u forgot to attach in ur previous message.

Mean time i am implementing a better solution so that user will not loose GD related custom data and option on plugin deletion from wordpress adim.

I came to know the cause of this issue.
As the auto updater is not able to update plugin, so u deactivate the plugin and then delete it from wordpress admin and then install a new one right ?Here is the solution to get rid it
I think ur plugins folder does not have sufficient permission for the auto updater to create new folder in plugins directory, so plz try to change the permission of the folder to 755 before upgrading and then change it back to what it is right now.
