I read through this thread. According to Stiopan, GD Events plugin is not using up a lot of resources and reducing page load, correct? I purchased Events plugin but I never activated it because of this thread. Please let me know that it’s ok to use Events plugin.

I inform listing owners that they can manage listings from their own dashboard. I’m importing listings via csv and by default listings are published so that biz owners can claim listings and update with current info; hence, I want to avoid disabling User Links.

I actually prefer the option of using the “Report Content” with the snippet you provided above.

Still, I think that the admin should be notified of updates and randomly check updates. I doubt paid users would abuse the system but some free users would. I use a WPExternalLinks plugins with the “no external links” option to reduce abuse but you want visitors to know that your site is respectable. There’s a featured request for “stop words” and this will also help if implemented for reviews. All these little things add up to help keep the site clean.

I read https://wpgeodirectory.com/customise-send-enquiry-form/ and I wonder what code would I use to notify the site admin’s email address when a “Send Enquiry” form is filled and submitted. I like the idea of using the reCaptcha to reduce/prevent spam but I think the site admin would find it useful to see how people are engaging on the site and to monitor the type of interactions going on.

All of my listed imported successfully. I had forgotton to fix the UTF-8 settings in OpenOffice which is not easily obvious but I did a g search on how to do UTF-8 for OO.

You guys are awesome. You always help users fix problems and in a timely manner. It shows how dedicated your are to promoting this dynamic directory plugin. Feel free to use this as a testimonial.

    1. OK. The csv file columns must match the order of custom fields I create in the CPT settings first before uploading.

For example, if I want to add “Services” and “Year Opened” for each listing, I will create “Services” and “Year Opened” fields in CPT Settings and in the csv I will add “Services” and “Year Opened” to the end of the csv columns. Correct. I believe “Images” is the last column in the sample csv file so the 2 new fields will be listed after that last field.

    2. Also, the “Services” and “Year Opened” fields can be added to the tabs section on the listing detail page. I only want them displaying in the tab section. The default fields will display in sidebar.

    Please confirm above. Thanks.

    Question about #6 above.

If I add custom fields at GD > Place (or other CPT) settings > custom fields then why did a moderator (in a support ticket) say to add new fields in the csv sample file before uploading to WP admin GDF > Import ?

Does this mean that I can populate listing data in my sample csv file with only the fields listed and in CPT settings > custom fields add my own/unique fields?

OK. I added the inner-header css.

Now, the background color is still #323944 (grey) and I want it white #ffffff. So in GDF Options > Header Styling > Header Bkgd I switched ot white but I’m still seeing that grey/black background. Do you see it on your end?

Also, I’m still seeing the left part of the banner as background to div that expands the full screen. I had removed the banner .png froom GDF Options > Heading Styling > Header Bkgd. Do you see it on your end?

OK, I’ll have to purchase Payment and Prices addon this week. I was reading about this addon via the link you shared and I have a few questions:

    1. Upload images. Does this plugin have an option to link to external image (ex. Flickr) instead of uploading to WP uploads directory? And is there a default image size 600×480 or any size ok?

    2. Post fields. This plugin includes custom post fields that I add and not just the default post fields of GD? For example, I want to add “Services” and “Licenses” to my post fields so that plan users can add data for these 2 fields.

    3. Categories. GD will work with one level of sub-category as well per https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/places-categories-and-listings/

The screenshot explains it but I want to confirm that if I have a category called Clothing, I can have the following sub-categories under it: Women, Men, Children, Babies, etc. Correct? Also, how many sub-categories can I add maximum … 12? 50? Unlimited?

    4. Recurring payments. The plugin docs states that on Paypal supports recurring payments. Doesn’t the Stripe addon support recurring payment also?

    5. Downgrade listing. The plugin docs states that you can expire or downgrade a listing if you have another package. I’d like to downgrade Premium/paid listings to Free listing after expiration instead of deleting the listing or making a draft. In this way, the listing still appears and the listing owner can always upgrade again.

    6. Custom post fields. Where do I add post fields in GDF? Do I add custom fields or post fields in the csv per https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/core-export/ or do I add custom fields inside WP admin > Page > Options? I want to add “Services” and “Licenses” and “Year Opened” and others to my listings for Premium members to use.

    I am reading https://wpgeodirectory.com/support/topic/please-help-with-my-site/

#3 states that ” You will need to enable the Location Manager addon. Without that your listings can only be in your default location.”

My default location is USA, California, Los Angeles. I have records for other US states in my csv. Since my default location is USA, records for other US states will populate from my csv, correct? I want to ensure that this is not the problem.

In the meantime, I’m working on saving my csv as utf8 format so I can upload and fix this problem with the csv not importing.

I added the margin css above and it works 🙂

Now, that I can view the header banner, could you help me center the banner? It’s not centered and I tried adding a position: relative but it’s not work.

FYI: The website and banner url is in the private post above. I had tried adding the banner to WP admin > GD Options > but it’s not displaying at all.
