Another followup – can’t upload the files – they were just screenshots of what my original message describes – you will see the issues if you choose or need to visit the site to try to resolve this.

    thanks again

Follow up – file was too large so I’ve chopped it into separate files:

Hey Paolo – thanks for the quick response 🙂

I’m only guessing about the switching to smaller sizes – you’re probably correct.

However, when I resize my screen, the image does shrink ( but not scale ), and at 2 or 3 breakpoints, it then shows as full size again – but scaled properly to the screen size. In other words, there is a definite “jump” to a re-scaled image.

I want to be able to re-size the screen and have the image smoothly auto-size itself per the screen size.

Please check this simple code-pen example I have just created that visually shows what I’m trying to do : https://codepen.io/stensrbr/pen/PBvvGJ

    thanks again

    Hey Kor –

      no worries at all

    – let me preface this with the fact that although I have been developing software for many years, I am a complete rookie re: WordPress (and obviously to all the possible themes, widgets, etc)
I say this as most likely the issues were caused by me – widget incompatibilities, theme limitations vs my expectations, and even the terminology used.

That being said, I did purchase your “Custom CPT” add-on, and with that implemented all the issues described previously have been cleared up. Sorry if this caused you to waste time investigating …. please don’t spend any more time on this unless you feel there might be an issue other than “user error”.

I was also able to implement a custom listing form (not exactly what I want, but getting there.

A couple of probably simple questions you could answer for me though :

    1. Is it reasonable for me to look at “Listings” as simply a special type of Blog that consists of specific fields to be filled in, as opposed to a typical free-text blog?

    2. What is the typical method of showing these listings ? – Custom page with a widget ??

    thanks again Kor

Hi Kor – thanks for such a quick reply,

I don’t quite know how to explain what I want – I guess I was hoping to be able to completely customize this page as I find it too cumbersome/complicatged for our upcoming needs.

Also, I have just removed GD plugin and themes, ( deleted folders from the directory as well ), and then re-installed the GD plugin, and for themes I added DirectoryStarter and SupremeDirectory.

I’m aware of the “Permalinks” section and this is all set up properly. I tried using “Place Settings” as I assumed this was for doing a bit of customization on the “Add Listing” page, but the changes I made were not shown when the page opened. I did this prior to the un-install mentioned above.

With my new install, when I open the “Add New Listing” page with WP’s default editor, it looks the way it is supposed to (attached : “AddListPage_HtmlFromWpEditor.txt”), but when I preview or open the page from the actual site most of the page’s content has been duplicated ( attached : “AddListingPage_LiveFromTheSite.txt”). Both attachments are pure HTML so changing the extension should allow you to open in a browser to see what I’m referring to – the “live” page was too large to get a proper screen shot.

Both attachments are the output from new brand new install.

I’m going to give your tip re: customizing using the shortcode and see how that goes. Are you aware of any type of example that would be available to check out as a starting point for this ?

EDIT : I just created a new AddListing page with only the base shortcode [gd_add_listing], and a preview of this page also shows with the content duplicated ??

    thanks again

2nd EDIT: If you load the “live site” html, you will notice that it is also showing the warning/error messages for both Records and the Map :

    No Records Found
Sorry, no records were found. Please adjust your search criteria and try again.

    Map Not Loaded
Sorry, unable to load Maps API.

You will notice that in the top section there is no map, but the duplicated section does contain a map.
