Downloading the plugin seemed to do the trick. I was able to simply download the export CSV files from one site and directly import those CSV files into the other site, without needing to put the CSV files into OpenOffice first.
Although most of the information transferred over, the photos in the location galleries didn’t transfer over with the locations, nor did the featured image. I tried to do it with my FTP client but to no avail.
The image in the body of the post transferred over though. I believe that is due to the fact that the image in the body has an actual URL. Could future GeoDirectory updates ensure that all images uploaded to a locations gallery have an actual URL, rather than it just being part of a “photo player”? That might help with future import/export issues.
Also, is it fine to continue to keep the plugin active on the site, or do I need to remove it at some point? If removing it is something that needs to be done when a WordPress update to fix the CSV import/export problem happens in the future, will you let us know?
