Thanks Alex,
I am using Open Street Map as trying to get Google Maps up and running was a real pain.
I am a little confused.
Geodirectory provides a feature (complete with a sample file showing structure) to upload a file of countries, provinces, cities so why “should’ I be adding cities by adding a listing one at a time to get going?
I would appreciate some insights here.
Thanks.
Thanks.
That is one perspective.
But as I start out I have an empty directory. 🙂I appreciate that data is added automatically as a listing is added.
However, I want to populate my directory with provinces and major cities in Canada as I get going to provide a framework. Importing that information seems like the quickest route to go.
Thank you so much.
Now I understand what I need to do.
Thanks.
I have read through that thread and quite frankly it has me going around in circles.
I do not understand precisely, step by step, what I would need to do to add Schema Types. Probably a piece of cake if I were writing php code on a regular basis but I am not.
I don’t understand why being able to add the Schema Types that we need to use isn’t simply part of the GeoDirectory Custom Post Types plugin that I am using.
I am feeling somewhat frustrated about this. 🙂
Thanks I had reviewed that posting.
But I was curious if the the Profile tab could load first without changing their order.
However I now reread the post I see now that the default order in other GD themes is profile first. That info didn’t register when I read it before.
Therefore it may make sense for me to change themes.
Thanks for helping me. This plugin is so rich in features I often find myself going around in circles as I learn how to do things. 🙂
I have been thinking of changing from Whoop and using Directory Starter with Supreme directory, or GeoDirectory Theme Framework with GDF Modern.
Is there a lot of work involved in switching from one theme to another?
Sure it’s subjective, but I am looking for ideas and trying to understand what people think makes a good Default Image.
That is why I titled my post “Ideas for Default Image”.
I am new at this and I want to learn what has been working for others.
Footer text color is now white. Great.
However the menu being displayed in the footer is still not showing as white. The links are showing as Blue. This the same as my settings for the body.
Thank you. I will try this out.
Thanks.
I think I will go the Child theme route because there are a few CSS changes I have already made and there are a few more to come.
I am interested in your comment about Whoop and Yelp. I find the Yelp layout easy to look at. But perhaps there are reasons that I don’t understand and it would be better to use the starter theme.
What are your thoughts?
I am early days with this project so now is the time for me make changes. 🙂
Thanks.
Thanks. 🙂
Apart from not having a clear picture in my mind concerning Child themes it is confusing to me to see two instances of Whoop in my Download area:
Whoop GeoDirectory_whoop
whoop_childWhoop GeoDirectory_whoop
whoop_childI think I will go the Child theme route because there are a few CSS changes I have already made and there are a few more to come.
I already have Whoop installed.
So do I just upload the Whoop Child Theme and activate it?
Thank you so much Guust for your wonderful help. 🙂
