July 20, 2015 at 9:05 pm in reply to: Breadcrumbs – keep on Geodirectory pages, don't load on other pages? #46292
GeoDir breadcrumbs are only showing on GD pages.
Actually that is not true. On Genesis themes with breadcrumbs disabled in Genesis Theme Settings,
<div class=”geodir-breadcrumb-bar”>
<div class=”wrap”>
<div class=”geodir-breadcrumb clearfix”>
<ul id=”breadcrumbs”>is being generated on standard wordpress posts and pages
The desired affect for me is to Not have geodirectory breadcrumbs on Pages.
I’d show you the site but it is behind an under construction wall
thanks, but it seems simpler to just create 1500 non-duplicated fictional sample posts than to even discuss this further
The more successful sites doing directories and classifieds understand buyer behavior and show empty categories so that people know what to do…
a link to an empty category wouldn’t land on a blank page, it would land on a page with images and descriptions of the category (ie “selling it to them to list on it”)
then a call to action in the sidebar gets a new customer…
sort of wondering how I might ‘change the code’ to make my directories more competitive
Hi, thanks for reply.
How would I display empty categories?
http not https
geez, you’re right. now google tool is giving results
sorry to take your time
I have checked some pages using Yandex tool https://webmaster.yandex.com/microtest.xml
but they are coming back with error warnings
Hi
1) thanks
2) URL won’t help, if you’re logged in as admin and go to live site, you have the admin bar at top of page.
click the google maps button to go full screen, the google maps control button hides behind the admin bar and you can’t click it.
need to add padding/margin but have no idea what that might be (I think google disables tools like firebug).
thanks for offer of support
yes, use cloudflare, usually in ‘development mode’ when editing the site
I’ve parked geodirectory project for time being.
will restart on a different site, I’ll use your theme, and it won’t have hardly any other plugins and will be targeted location based visitors to avoid search confusion and friction. So should be more pure.
well… How do you “quietly explain to those that complain?”
the point is that people use default search and don’t get results. most website users aren’t going to submit a complaint and wait for a tutorial
it is very similar to the many web/app developers that on first pass their system doesn’t work on internet explorer, and they always say “tell the customer not to use internet explorer”
Hi – the informal part is welcome. the pain in the derriere isn’t
I know it is next to impossible to fix a problem without seeing it etc, but my site is not static waiting for a solution. I’ve been activating / deactivating options to see what works what doesn’t, so giving you credentials is not practical.
I was just hoping that with 30,000 support tickets you’d have some experience and ‘clues’ why it would behave like that.
I’m considering wiping the network completely and restoring things from scratch. (yes, a lot of work). I probably need a new database. Deactivating/deleting GeoDirectory leaves about 500 instances of it in the DB tables.
With demo data the map was displaying on home page and then it was not loading. While testing reactivating GeoDirectory, clicking buttons in Multilocations to see if that was why, it crashed the network – twice. (VPS with power and high memory settings, low usage).
It seems to be working now, but stability and complexity are major concerns.
using shortcodes does display search box
“Instead of getting stressed, you should try to quitely explain to whoever complains how to search for their listing.”
you have got to be kidding, right?
don’t use Internet Explorer…
Thanks for offer of being given admin rights etc…
Right now I’ve deactivated GeoDirectory and installed another option to see if it will perform as expected so there is nothing for you to look at
search widget not displaying and other search tools can’t find dummy data – frustrated doesn’t begin to describe experience
Hi –
Great to hear about this. Are we supposed to order their plugin from them?
