I’m hoping someone can help, google webmaster keeps reporting I have thousands of 404 errors on old url’s that don’t exist anymore.

I’m assuming having 9344 in the not found section is bad? I changed the url’s a few weeks ago to miss out ‘category’ in the url, could this be the issue as the 404’s say they link from the yoast sitemap and from other pages?

I have looked at the sitemap and the other pages and all the links seem to work fine, it appears to be pulling old url’s that the website no longer uses.

Yes, that would be because you changed your permalinks/URLs.
Google will catch up eventually, when they realize the pages have “moved” they will update their records.
    Thanks
