Hello, I’m having some trouble with near-daily 500 errors with nothing in the error_log file. It’s not clear what is causing this, but when I disable all plugins and re-enable, it works again, but still nothing in log files.

I’ve got BlueHost, GeoDirectory, WPML and WP Users – quite a few modules each from GeoDirectory and WPML, but I’ve disabled those I’m not using.

Can you help figure out where the error messages should be going, and how to ensure that they appear so I can identify the root cause?

You are probably running out of memory. If you haven’t already you should turn on wp_debug. Contact your host about enabling it so it shows more errors in the logs. Ask them if they can increase the memory available.

Make sure you haven’t set one of the GD templates as the front page.

Thanks – this seems to have fixed it. Much appreciated.
