Anyone else notice how really particular the map search box is for typing in addresses? I had to set up all my initial businesses manually and so there were a couple hundred I manually entered and noticed it A LOT.

Many times you have to type the whole word out instead of the abbreviation? North instead of N or East instead of E or Avenue instead of Ave or Road instead of Rd??? This is really annoying and inconvenient and not the way Google maps search usually works.

And there were many many times that even when I typed the address out properly that it STILL didn’t like the address (and I double and triple checked them for their accuracy) and completely corrected them to some random other address when I clicked “map it”.

My concern is that customers are not going to have the patience for this or understand how to get their address properly set on this seemingly touchy system?

Is this a Google maps thing or a GD thing? Because it does seem like when searching on Google maps I’ve never had this kind of issues finding addresses.

There were times when I just had to pick a completely different address that I knew worked…set that on the map, then delete it and try the right one again and FINALLY it would work. This is quite a workaround and I don’t think it’s realistic to expect customers to figure it out.

Are others having this issue as well??

Can you share the address that didn’t work? I’d like to test it and see what happens
    Thanks

You know what? I just discovered that I don’t think I had Google Maps fully configured. Not sure why it was working at all since I hadn’t gotten the Google Maps API Key inputted yet. I thought I had. But I guess it just got lost in the shuffle of ALLLLL the multitude of new things I was learning when I got started. I thought it wouldn’t work at all without that? But maybe that is why it was so persnickety. I kept poking around and poking around yesterday, trying to figure things out and discovered that and once I got that in there, it does seem like it works much better.

So as usual, it looks like it may have been user error. My bad! But if it does happen again, I will be sure to make a note of things better and post immediately so it can be looked at.

Here’s hoping this totally fixes it though!

Thank you for your reply though!

And by the way….I just want to AGAIN say how much I LOVE this plugin!! I’m getting compliments from locals on my newly revamped site and I couldn’t have created this thing without you guys! I LOVE THIS THING! SO FUN!!

I love it so much that I’ve already started the process of creating ANOTHER site (different focus).
