Advanced search for delivers no results & remove grey cat display on map

Hi,

My advanced search (customize my search form on the right of my map here: http://newsite.eat-amsterdam.com/location/) does not come up with any results. I have added two places for testing purposes but they are not shown when I do a search. The grey area overlapping the map does work when I check and uncheck categories. So my questions are:

1) Why is the advanced search not delivering any results? And how can I make sure there will be results?

2) How do I remove (or collapse) the grey area overlapping the map. Adding the following CSS does not work [[ .map_category{display: none;} ]] & I can’t find where the option to collapse the categories are.
