At present from what I can see a user can request a new password and they get sent a very secure one. They can also set their own password when they register but I can’t see a setting to allow them to change their password. Am I correct in thinking that the way this could be achieved is with the buddy press add on? I have no experience of buddy press but if answer is yes I will familiarise myself with it. If I have missed something obvious and there is a setting to change password could someone point me in the right direction? cheers, Andy

Buddypress will indeed allow you to do that.
Or you can change this setting:
GD > General > General > Allow user to see wp-admin area > YES

Thanks for this I think I’ll check out Buddypress, I don’t really want users to see the wp-admin area

They would only have access to their profile, nothing else, if you have set the default role as subscribers.
