Ok, one of the things that really stands out with the Listimia archive page over any of the other themes is the “over-image” effect of badges and text.

Before I try to recreate the wheel, just wondering if there is any existing information/code/CSS for doing that within GD-SD?

“Floating” content over/under or absolute position is built into CSS. We can’t help with designing your site but any designer should be able to help you with that.
