Hi, As i have observed ASF behaviour: (1) ASF shows results for each word typed in the box, and then sorts the results based on relevance (2) However, if NEAR MY LOCATION is selected, then the sorting of results is ONLY by Distance to Post (DTP), and (3) To show DTP in search results it is necessary to select NEAR MY LOCATION, otherwise DTP is not shown in results.

I wanted to always show the DTP in the results, so i did a customisation to insert “Near my location” whenever a search is done (and thus hid the near box from the bar)- this allow me to show DTP always in the results and results are sorted by DTP – this works fine if i get precise results from the term entered by user, as only relevnat results are shown, AND they are sorted by DTP [ eg i have a CPT called SCHOOLS in which there are say 200 schools, of which 5 branches of VIBGYOR SCHOOL are also there. If user searches for VIBGYOR, then only the 5 results are shown, and sorted by DTP – perfect.

However, if the user searches for VIBGYOR SCHOOL then all 200 results show up as all listings contain the word School. And now 200 listings show sorted by DTP in which the VIBGYOR SCHOOLs may appear on page 4…as the DTP has taken precedence over relevance

I know that this is a custom requirement but I just thought i should ask if you have a suggestion on what would be a way to (1) show relevant results first (2) also show DTP in results (ie not sort by DTP by default, but giev the user an option to do so if they want)

    thanks, Vivek

    However if the user enters
