Hi, my plugins won’t auto update. I have tried to insert my Geodirectory password into Auto Update section, but each time I click SAVE, the password reverts to something else. What I mean is, my password is 12-digits long, but no matter how many times I insert it and click SAVE, an 8-digit encrypted password pops up. Can someone help??? I can always download each plugin from this site separately then upload them to the site one at a time, but this takes too long.

    Thanks!

    HI,

can you provide a URL and wp admin credentials in a private reply?

I’ve flagged this for Stiofan and I’m sure he’ll need them.

    Thanks

    Hi Rita and Paolo
The password does probably save, but the field in admin shows a “fake” value because it is hardcoded on that page. In other words, your admin does not show your password, but it just shows a hidden fake password to hide your real one.

The code of that field includes

    value="fakepass" type="password"

    Hi Guust and Paolo,
I think I figured it out. Don’t ask me what I did because I truly can’t tell you, but all of a sudden when I inserted my password one more time into the Auto Update the “alert” that once said my plugins needed to be updated suddenly disappeared.

    Thanks for your help anyway,
    Rita L

Rita, that does not mean that plugin is updated though.
The auto update feature only means that you can update your GD add-ons from your WP admin instead of uploading them using FTP.

If your password is saved correctly, this would be the process:

When an update is available for a GD add-on, you will get an alert.
You then would go to the WP update screen and click to update the add-on.
If your password is saved correctly, that should run all in the normal way.
If your password is NOT saved correctly, you’ll be told your add-on cannot update.

    Hi Guust,
I just double-checked and the update alert is gone. It now says all my plugins are up-to-date. Thanks so much for your help!
