    Hello GD Team!

    My first paying customer sent me this today:

    “Jeff, just wanted to let you know that messages form your website are going into my gmail spam folder (through no action on my part!) You might want to take a look and see if there’s anything you can do about it. Screenshot attached. So you might want to look into “Mail headers’ and “Verifying / digitally signing your email” to avoid these types of spam messages – I am not super-familiar with that, but it is worth digging into.”

    Do you happen to have any suggestions on how I may prevent this from occurring in the future?

    Hi Jeff,

    Could you try using this SMTP plugin and see if it fixes the spam issue you had there?

    Thanks!

    Sure, thanks Kor, I’ll try that. I’m curious, have you used this with much success? I’m reading through it now. Do you think it’s something my hosting provider needs to do? One thing is says is “The issue is that most WordPress hosting companies don’t have their servers properly configured for sending PHP emails.” I’m using JaguarPC…

    The first review for this plugin says:

    Removes the activation token from activation emails for new users, meaning they cannot sign up. Nice! Might as well just use the official Mailgun plugin.

    That sounds a bit scary… 🙁

    This one: “The issue is that most WordPress hosting companies don’t have their servers properly configured for sending PHP emails.”

    I don’t think a SMTP plugin here would do much.

    Thanks

    @jeff,

    you should check the received email header for SPF and DKIM signatures. Missing signatures might influence your spam scoring.
