Bug in search form

    I want to explain a small error in search form. You can check it with demo site wpgeo.directory.

    Open wpgeo.directory, type Crown Fountain in search form and click the search button, You will find correct results.. but now change the location from popular location widget (for eg. delhi). now come back to home page with breadcrumbs or from address bar (without closing the browser).

    Now type crown Fountain in search box and press search. you find there is no listings. even Search auto completer works good and you find suggestions while typing but result is no listings.

    Search form in Your Geodirectory script search the results for the location stored in session variables. ideally it should search for all location since user can search anything for any location. for example if anyone comes to india, he may search hotels in different cities like Delhi, jaipur, Mumbai at the same time. If he visit five star hotels in delhi , he finds correct results, now if he wants to search five star hotels in mumbai. he finds the same results got earlier or no listings.

    i hope you people rectify this error soon.

    Hello, there’s no such place in New Delhi for Crow Fountain, that’s why no results, if an user wants to find places within different cities in a given country, he can switch to India, using the Location Switcher (http://wpgeo.directory/location/india/) and not limiting the results for a city in india

    I am not satisfied with your answer. The search form shouldn’t be limited to local search within current location stored in session. if it is then autocompleter should also suggest the keywords for that local search. It is a suggestion that search form must search and display the results for all listings.

    just think as a simple user if he/she visit a listing in delhi, he may wants to search for different city with the form provided, doesn’t bother to change the location again and again. Thats what search forms are being used

    What If any web developer don’t want to include location switcher in menu, how can user change the location for different cities.

    Hi,

    the suggestion to be able to search outside the current location has been made already and we are working on an alternative solution.

    The location switcher is a fundamental part of the multi location addon and is something the would prevent the system to work properly if not added.

    Thought of it yesterday when was using at a location and tried to find a place on other. The search should bypass the location selector.

    It’s great to know it is already being taken care of!
