    Hi guys,

Is it possible to add a listing map to the GD Home template, instead of / as well as the GD Home Map?

If I understand correctly, the near me search uses the GD Home template to return its results, but we feel it would be great to have a map like the one used in the search results template, that shows you the location pins for that particular result, rather than the whole GD Home Map.

I have tried adding the GD Listing map as a widget to the GD-Home areas (eg GD Home Right Section) but it doesn’t show?

I guess an alternative option would be to use a different template for the location (eg https://dinnerdata.co.uk/location/me/ ) results and apply the widget that way, again if this is doable?

Please let me know your thoughts.

    Many thanks and best regards

    Malcolm

    Hi Malcolm,

Try using shortcodes https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/core-shortcodes/#listing on a new custom page. If it doesn’t help, share your WP admin access in private reply and we’ll take a look at your setup.

    Thanks!

    Hello!

please make a private reply with the details below so we can look into why your home map isn’t loading.

Yes, the Location pages are using the same template/widgets as the home page:
    https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/layout/#home

Can you say more about what you feel needs to be different about how the home map works on location pages now, versus how you would want it to work?

    Hi Alex,

Thanks for your reply. I know why the home map isn’t loading, it’s because in css I have hidden it.

What we want to try and achieve is to have a listing style map show on the near me search results page.

When we do a normal search, such as https://dinnerdata.co.uk/?geodir_search=1&stype=gd_place&s=+&snear=birmingham&sgeo_lat=52.48624299999999&sgeo_lon=-1.8904009999999971 the search results map shows the pins for the listings on that page.

We want to do the same thing for near me, which in our case at the moment is https://dinnerdata.co.uk/location/me/ which won’t accept the GD Listings map. Happy to use a different template which we can customise if we can be pointed to any documentation on how we configure near me to use a different template?

    Thanks Alex

Look forward to hearing back, and then if you still need access I’ll send that across privately

Listings maps do not work on Home/Location pages, see https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/widgets/

Do you just want it in the sidebar instead of the top?
If you want the same look, just add the Home map widget to the sidebar instead of the top.

And if you don’t like the map legend, you can hide it: https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/common-styling-examples/#legend

This may be useful too to understand the different sections of the pages where you can add widgets.

    Thanks
