Can I have a Map with no GeoDir listings?

Hi
I have a site with a GeoDirectory listings directory so I have a little experience (a bit rusty).

That’s all good but I am starting a new site now that initially will have no business directory listings (it will eventually when I get some traffic to it) but from day one I do want to have a separate map showing the towns, places of interest etc where the map markers will link through to my own WordPress pages about the places not linking to GeoDirectory listings.

I do not want directory listings for specific towns and places appearing under the map.

I know I could use a different plugin for this but I thought it would be more efficient to use GeoDirectory if possible.

If this is not possible could you recommend a simple maps plugin?

I am using GeoDir version 2.0.0.16-rc and WordPress 4.9.8
